At the movies - From the couch

He’s a decent looking guy. I think he was in the Magic Mike movies, so can probably dance and bit a decent body.

I don’t rate him as an actor, and for the Jump St ‘saga’ he plays the good looking beefcake trying to break the stereotype, but can’t.

Contrast that with Seth who plays (checks notes) THE SAME OBNOXIOUS CHARACTER IN EVERY MOVIE…

I’m actually watching 22 Jump St last night/tonight as my teenage son thinks it’s worth a look. It is literally the same movie, same script and they constantly say in the movie that it’s the same as last time. (It’s actually a bit worse TBH)

I didn’t mind 21 Jump Street when it came out…but 22 Jump Street…that was a shocker.

The scene where Ice Cube meets his daughter’s new boyfriend is pretty good, must admit.

To be honest, I watched it when it first came out…and have never gone back to it so don’t really remember any specific details…I just remember that I though it was crap.

Jesus mate. SPOILER ALERTS PLEASE!!!’nn

And? Hearing mixed reviews.

I’m like @swooper I liked it. To me early Zep is the best, they did get a bit self indulgent in their later days. The only labourious song is when Jimmy pulls out the cello bow on Dazed and Confused, but besides that, the music is great. In their defence though, Jimmy playing the bow on D&C was a big reason why people went to check them out initially out of curiosity , it was a bit gimmicky, bit like the Who smashing up their instruments.
If you have a good sound system at home, it would be worth waiting for it to come out on the streaming services eventually, but if not, go see it.
The scene when they play one of their first ever English gigs live to a bunch of kids and mums is hilarious, they do a blistering rendition of Communication Breakdown, with a typical face melting Page solo, and the audience is just dumbfounded - very Spinal Tap in the airforce base vibes.

Cheers, will check it out.

Well I just watched Conclave.

I read the book recently, and I thought that it had its good points and its bad points, the main good point being that it didn’t sling off at the Catholic Church and the main bad point being that too much happened. By too much happening I mean that in the election of a new pope, there are three separate bombshells (one of them literal), none of which is really credible, and that’s not counting the bombshell of the pope who’s elected being who he is, which is the biggest and frankly most ridiculous bombshell of them all.

The acting is excellent, it’s gripping, and you have to give it points for those. But at the end I was sitting there muttering, Oh, for God’s sake!

Plus the soundtrack was deafening. Why does every closing door have to be accompanied by an earthshaking thunderous crash?

In the end, it’s not a bad movie, despite being burdened with almost everything I detest about modern Hollywood movie-making.

Saw ‘Becoming Led Zeppelin’ was playing nearby and went yesterday evening. Loved it. Awesome to see those (not new) concert clips in a theatre. PML at that footage with the mums pulling faces and the kids blocking their ears.

Suspect there’s at least two more instalments to go. :+1:
