Looks delightful.
Talk to me was brilliant. This one looks like a step up on the disturbance factor
We have Australian actors playing Americans and English all over the place but it’s still weird to bring in a British actor for a low budget (by choice) Oz film. She’s great in everything but we have a lot of just as great actors here. Fair play if she was just the dream choice, but just as, or more, likely a studio choice. Do these blokes do their own music as well, sounds like it!
Great actor diCaprio. Recall his breakout film alongside De Nero back in the 90s. He was just a kid in that one. Both were excellent in it … Leo though, you just knew he was going to be a big star.
This Boy’s Life. Well worth a watch.
I think it was his next book after Mystic River, which was excellent as both a book and a movie.
Do we need a seperate horror movie thread? Or fine to keep the scary stuff in here too? Acquired taste and all.
If this post gets more than 20 likes i will start a seperate one. (Blitz doesn’t need more and more topics)
Otherwise please ignore this post.
I’d definitely be interested in a dedicated horror movie thread.
I thought Whats eating gilbert grape was his break out role, showing he wasn’t just your typical teen star.
Me too…as it would get that scary crap out of here
Could be right there … both films in close proximity release wise and did OK, Leo got his first Oscar nomination with the slightly later Gilbert Grape.
Its animated but predator killer of killers is good fun
Just got back from seeing “bring her back”.
Holy ■■■■.
Brutal. One of the best this year I’d say.
Genuinely disturbing.
Should have a wider audience than a horror. But it’s a hard watch.
Enemy of the State (1998)
Solid film. 8/10.
Grows ever more pertinent as it ages. Will Smith had an unchallenging role, but pulled it off, while Gene Hackman (RIP) was much more impressive in his supporting role. Jon Voight plays a very good villain, an ambitious NSA apparatchik who murders a Congressman over his opposition to a very foreboding (especially for 1998) National Surveillance Bill.
Typical Bruckheimer movie, tension is maintained the whole way through but could have used a few more calmer scenes to let the film “breathe.” The final scene feels a little underwhelming considering the scope of the movie, but very neatly wraps everything up.
From the World of John Wick: Ballerina
Nobody does action as well as the John Wick franchise and this is another excellent entry.
Ana de Armas more than holds her own as Eve, the movie’s main character.
Some superb action scenes and the main fight towards the end has raised the bar (imo).
If you’re a fan of action movies…then get out and see this one.
8/10
I agree…best movie I’ve seen this year.
Not a great fan of the horror genre as most of the movies are quite predictable and boring but this was something different and kept me glued to the screen throughout.
Any movies made out of South Australia I find interesting and left-of-field and original such as this, Snowtown and the all time classic Bad Boy Bubby.
Mel brooks is 98 will he still be around by the time the movie releases
I think the directors have been tagged to do a Marvel film and something else upcoming. So they are being noticed outside of the genre.
There was so much good stuff in terms of character development and small details in that film I think which makes it great . They are very good film makers.
Thats two features they have made in a row now which imho they”hit out of the park”
