have now watched this about ten times in the last two months. Still finding new stuff each time I watch it. Adore it.
Will be on at IMAX Melbourne on the 13th, but I’ll be in Cairns ![]()

I’m so sorry @Koala. I don’t want to yuk your yum, (but I will) that was the dumbest pile of steaming garbage I have watched. I actually had to digest it on three attempts it was so bad.
Visually it is a stunning film though.
But there are a lot of people who liked it…but I just want to warn, it’s not everyone’s cup of tea.
hehehe it’s like any movie, some people just won’t like it!
for me it was awesome. Space stuff, science stuff, cute alien, corny jokes, suspenseful moments, heartfelt moments… just all round good viewing ![]()
EDIT - I will add, some of the concepts were hard to understand or I missed them at first, and I enjoyed it even more once I had a better grasp of some of the science/space stuff!
particularly:
more details about the petrova line
what the issue was that caused him to go and save Rocky
why it was only going to take him 4 years to get home
Watched Spit last night, a sequel to Gettin’ Square with David Wenham from 2003.
Spit escaped in that, and he’s just been nabbed for overstaying his visa in England by 14 years. He’s dumped in a detention centre and helps out a lot of Middle Easterners with their English, although the Queen wouldn’t appreciate it’s hers. The guys who were chasing him in the first film are back again, with mainly David Field and Gary Sweet, and the same Justice guys.
Some good comic moments but it’s not going to win any awards, except maybe for best performance from a pair of thongs in a feature movie.
I did enjoy Getting Square, and Wenham was fantastic in it. I’ll have to check it out.
I just finished watching Verity, and honestly, it was an incredibly disappointing adaptation. Instead of building genuine, calculated tension or giving us the specific details needed to truly question the characters’ motives, the film lazily glosses over everything. My biggest issue with the film is how it skips over crucial details, while expecting the audience to use our own discretion to fill in the blanks. Audiences hate it when they can’t see something the character sees in real time, it sux!
3/10
It’s funny, little bit sad and it’s got a lot of heart.
Great yarn.
I haven’t seen the movie. But i have no idea how Dakota Johnson continues to get any sort of acting roles. Such a wooden actor with no personality or charisma, whose films suck
Code 3 on Amazon prime isn’t too bad. About a retiring paramedics last few days on the job from burnout.
Worth a stream if you have it
I’m halfway between Munich and Melbourne, specifically in the Lotus Lounge in Hanoi (not the greatest lounge in the world). So far I’ve watched Disclosure Day and The Martian.
Disclosure Day was IMHO a load of rubbish. A bird which has magical powers, some sort of metal object that gives people power over others in some way that is never explained, the “truth” about alien/UFO sightings revealed … And the biggest disappointment is the ending, which is – nothing. I’ve never really like Spielberg as a director, but this would have to be one of his absolute worst.
I did like The Martian a lot. Not exactly gritty realism, and a few rather unlikely strokes of luck, but nothing as ridiculous as the crap that went on in Disclosure Day. A good, well-made movie.
I started one the name of which I can’t remember, a kind of update of Kind Hearts and Coronets. It pales into insignificance in comparison with that masterpiece, but I’ll finish it on the next leg.
Whats the food like - Munchen on anything nice
I had one night there and dinner was a double scotch.
There must be a whole genre of these ‘last day in the job’ movies. Can you imagine the talent that it takes to write one of these storylines?
In the early to mid noughties I worked in an office in Northcote. On the floor above was the Leader Newspaper office.
One of the staff were retiring. As was their thing off to the Peacock hotel for farewell lunch and a drink. The retiree returns to his desk after lunch. Died at his desk and never went home.
How ■■■■■ is that?
No one deserves that.
