Attention EFC - Show Us Hirdy

Yeah, great idea. Let's draw even more attention for the the blood sucking media. Seriously, can you imagine the level of attention it would get if he was sitting in the box? Half of the cameras at the ground would be spending 100% of the time on him. The mega wall would be nothing but Hird. We would barely get any of the actual game televised. It would be blown way out of proportion. Have people seriously not leart a thing over the past 18 months?!

I don't think we need vision of Hird at all.

I know we want him, but I don't think we need it.

I'd say that players in red and black running through that banner in a final will do just fine for now.

The cameras will spot him if he's in the crowd anyway.

The players need to come first. If they think it's going to be a distraction, then he shouldn't be around. And I think that's what they have indicated.

Is this still about Peeto having a bat? He'll obviosly be able to influence whether Dell'O comes first, not sure if it's fair to make him help all the others.

Are there are any negatives?

I stand corrected :p

I understand the sentiment of wheeling Jimbob out amongst fun & fanfare but as much as I would like it to be along those lines I fear it would play into the hands of those who continue to claim it's all about James.

We could arrogantly tell them all to fark off & party on, but what about the players? This is their moment & I suspect Hirdy would also think that.

I'd rather Hird quietly slide into the bunker & fully focus on farking over 17 other clubs in 2015 instead of presenting as a target.

A modicum of humility could also contribute to Middleton's ultimate decision if we act like a bunch of smart a_rses.

Have him sit in the cheer squad.

Have him stand with the grog squad.

Hirdy can lead the "YOUR SISTER ROOTS YOUR MOTHER..." chant.

Queue the usual suspects.....

"Disgraced, unrepentant and recalcitrant coach returns from exile, snubbed by team'

Nah, don't worry about him being on the ground against (Fark) Carlton. Cotton wool for another week. Perhaps back through the 2's.

Imagine the joint rising as one when he strides out next to Bomba in the Final.

I think the club is just trying to be mature about Hirds return. I know it would be great to show him off and ‘stick it up everyone’ , but I like to think our club has a bit more class than that.

He should be at the game but sitting with Little and Tania, I don’t think there’s any need for him to be in the box looking over Bombers shoulder, or confusing the message by addressing the players.

Some of the funnier suggestions like using him as a runner, skeeta or holding up the banner etc I think would be demeaning to James.

Basically if the club has decided the best thing for this finals campaign is to give Bomber and the boys some space, then I’m cool with that.

Its disappointing there was no military escort for our beloved leader.

So ..... a low key entry using a fairly plain looking parachute descending from an unmarked low-flying Harrier jump-jet, that sort of thing?

Look I agree with the AFL, just keep him off the ground for the remainder of the season............

........That's why the only solution is to have him float across  the ground in a  red and black hot air balloon at half-time.

Have him sit in the cheer squad.

And skull a few bevies.

Give us this at the Carlton game with Hirdy instead of MJ.

Have him run to the ground with the military and all

Alan we all dislike SWMNBN but don't you think going ISIS on her, whilst he's dressed in a cartooney outfit, is a bit too far?

Actually, now I think about it, you're right on every count.

I am probably in the minority on here but I really just don't care much one way or the other how they handle all this. My concern is about the Essendon Football Club and the playing group at any given time that runs out on the weekend. Of course I loved James Hird as a player, although not immune from some fault it does appear he has been harshly judged and treated with all this but let's not over do the hero worship. If he is coaching in 2015 and the playing group are cool with it and have embraced him that is awesome but this 2014 season is alive, this CLUB this TEAM is finally involved in finals footy and doesn't it feel ■■■■■■ good. That is all I care about and am focused on as a supporter. Do people really care about how Hird is portrayed or what he is doing on game day? C'mon. This has been Bomber's campaign lets give it everything and try to go as far as we possibly can in September. When it is done, then Hirdy take the floor my man.

Individuals come and go, the club remains. Go Dons.

Completely agree mate
A little bit baffled as to why and how anyone cares about Hird's movements in the context of our impending finals campaign.
The guy is my childhood idol and I want him to be successful with the team but at this stage let's just focus on what is best for the club and the players.
IMO, it's not giving leeches like Caro and Damo a reason to mudsling their way onto the back cover of their respective "news"papers.
Up the ■■■■■■ dons
