Australian Policies -- 2026, and we have no Shadow Cabinet

I’ll be disappointed with every budget until Tazos are made a permanent line item.

Right Whingers would cut funding of the usual suspects (people doing it tough) but also Tax Department investigating tax fraud from companies/billionaires.

You’d be happy that they’ve canned the Inland Rail project then.

Sort of.. Certainly the last two rises would directly relate to war inflation on fuel etc.

Inflation had already ticked back up before the war started. We had already had one rate rise as a result pre war. The RBA was already taking action, whether we were going to cop any further rises is something we will never really know for sure.

Don’t give out income tax cuts in July.

I’d just not pass on income tax cuts for this next financial year that I believe is coming up from July.

I’ll give you one reason (for starters) why inflation is lower in the US than here…

THEIR TOURISM IS DOWN.

Especially with a big drop in Canadians making the short trip across the border it is really starting to bite.

Hit the nail on the head. Look at China from 1990 on riding bicycles everywhere in 1990 to now . Human decency and letting everyone have a roof over their head as a basic right ,shouldn’t come down to capitalism vs socialism.

It shouldn’t even be a debate in the first place. It should be the first order of business for any government, along with healthcare , food and water.

Sadly as a progressive society we have screwed up and let the lobbyists and party politics win .

Except Sir Tagga, we live in a democracy and all the power is actually in our hands.

Caring for each other, being part of the community and not making it about yourself, now exists in less people than ever before. We vote in Governments that reflect what we want, not what we need, and then we blame others for our own greed and avarice.

Science tells us what we are doing to our environment and provides indisputable evidence but we continue to take the soft, easy way which will ultimately lead to destruction of much of what we love.

Albo as PM has only limited power, and while I am sure he knows the path that should be followed, is prevented by us from taking the actions which may give short term pain for long term benefits. He could immediately stop all coal mining and close all power stations fuelled by coal, oil and gas. We certainly would have job losses and disruptions to electricity supply and we would react by voting him out in 2028. He could change our taxation system to make it fair and equitable, and ensure all pay their share including all people and corporations, but again we would react by voting him out of office.

You may disagree, but certainly the power lies with us, even the 25% of racists and bigots who follow One Nation. Human nature sucks.

Well she’s ■■■■■■ now Australia’s worst politician but best Childcare centre owner has her back.

I don’t know if that chart is accurate, but considering we are raising rates now - we are doing the exact opposite.

They can’t even get that right as it’s already built from Parkes onwards to Moree .

It was only a matter of time but alas let’s now try for for Sydney Newcastle lol

Double stacking to Parkes then Perth from Melbourne isn’t economically viable .

I do miss driving those intermodal trains

Biggest reason is probably due to their energy prices are more constrained.

US energy prices are generally significantly more constrained (lower) than those in Australia. As of 2025–2026, Australian electricity prices for households and businesses have often been reported as 50% to 100% higher than their US.

They are building Melbourne to Parkes.

They don’t have the base load power problems we do here and they actually stand up to their own tech giants re: contributing to the power grid as part of their AI data centres.
