Australian Policies -- 2026, and we have no Shadow Cabinet

They could sell it as fixing liberal mistakes under Howard.
Would get them some Brownie points, locally.

They could cancel AUKUS and state why we are spending 300B+ to secure the iron ore we ship to China hoping they don’t build an army / navy / airforce out of it.

Maybe Albanese should increase taxes on alcohol so he can create a cheaper black market for us.

Honest question…what doesn’t spook this government?

When they inevitable get thrown out and the historians write about this period, they will talk about the opportunities that went begging because the government was too spineless to act…always scared of upsetting “someone”

Yet in the past 4 years they have been high achieving in many areas

What decision(s) have they made that showed “political guts”

Something good for the country and it’s people that mightn’t have been popular?

They rejigged stage 3 tax cuts, that was more fairer than how Liberals had it.

Medicare, Health clinics, and more.

When I get time I will do a list, of good and bad !

The non-urgent health clinics are fantastic! They just save A&E from the minor stuff that need attention but not A&E attention.

I’ve used those Medicare urgent clinics a few times lately they are utterly fantastic . and any liberal government ever, would never ever have done this

at the moment this Labor government is the only thing remotely close to the centre which is where all government is run. the liberals and national are chasing one nation at the moment , so assuming they don’t get actually wiped out in the process it’s hard to see them even getting back to be a part of government.

if you believe current polling which I don’t , one nation are going to win a lot of conservative seats and probably some from Labor too , but unless they suddenly become coherent , they will never be a government either

It has admittedly taken way longer than it should… but the tide is now turning, both in Victoria and nationally. So good to see.

The average non-Labor brainwashed are waking up to the now decade of crap.

I tend to agree but the ON momentum seems to be continuing- now the most popular political party in Australia with higher membership than Libs and Labor. It’s crazy. Who knows where it will end

@Bacchusfox is Jacinta going to be pushed out by a Labor before the election. The press saying it could be happening?

Easy there mate…go back through this thread and you will find numerous examples of left leaning people questioning various things that Labor have done.

Then…if you’ve got a heap of time, try and fine a few posts from our right leaning posters calling out things done by the Right wing parties…you’ll struggle to do so.

The Coalition had nine years under Abbott, Turnbull and Morrisson to make substantial changes to improve the lot of ordinary Australians…what did they achieve during that period?

I eagerly await your detailed response.

What an irrelevant point to make.

As a general rule, Australians don’t join political parties so ON having taken the lead in such an area doesn’t really say much.

But the probelm is it is baseless , sure people are venting and have every right to. Most of that is undeiably on the right, sure labor will lose some skin perhaps. There is no way in the world when things get real that ON will be able to articulate any costed or coherent policy. If this then spins back to the coaltion , great, but there is little to no chance the coalition will get back to governemt any time in maybe the next decade.

I think the biggest hurdle for the liberals to get over to get back to the centre , is still climate policy. They are still running around talking abolut nuclear and coal and gas, as if that is a huge difference , it isnt, labor acknowledge that we need coal and gas to transition to net zero, Liberals are still in denial over the need to transition, so that is where they are losing the most votes. While they are still shouting at the clouds and belittleing solar and wind, hundreds of thousands of every day people are putting solar and batteries into their homes and see exactly how it all works

Meanwhile ,If One Nation is the answer I would like to know what the question is
