The game is different.
US Presidential Elections are held on a fixed day every 4 years, have an electoral college, and are first past the post.
Our Federal elections have a flexibility on when they can be called (roughly every 3 years), we vote by seats, and we have the preference voting system.

Well Bill, that opinion piece about Jane Garrett leaves out many things about her actions and character. No doubt Marshall is a ruthless bloke and has a fiery character, but he has done his job running the Firefighters Union very well and his Members support him strongly.
Jane Garrett wanted to be Premier and for a while as her star rose looked like she would take over from Dan Andrews, but it quickly turned to crap when she stubbornly wanted her own way on most things. Marshall refused to deal with her and he won the battle. She was never a team player and would shift alliances to get her own way, but made the mistake of thinking she could out-Dan, Dan.
Sad part for me was that she was a great talent and could have made a great Premier, but her ego was huge, and she listened to no-one.
Like most Trade Unions leaders Marshall gets bad press for doing his job, enquiry cleared him and Dan of any corruption, but the Age and others will continue making it a story.
Well suited to the role, then. 
Just saw the leader of ONP claim that because of a âwind droughtâ it cost South Australians $5 to boil a kettle.
Which is obviously just a flat out lie. I canât imagine anyone will report on it, though.
Does that factor in the cost of the kettle?
Reckon you probably could from K-Mart.
Or you could pay double the Kmart price for the same kettle, used, at one of the big âcharityâ shops.
But the MSM will report it and heaps of people will believe it.

Cathy King is a really good person. She was our guest speaker at our recent luncheon and it was nice to see her again.
I met her at her preselection ballot in 2000 and we have been good friends ever since.
Now the longest serving Member ever for Ballarat. I asked her about retirement and she said that there were years left in her.
Just had her 60th birthday and still looks in great health.
