Australian Policies -- from 2025 Federal election

Husic was unlucky for the second time. Maybe he isn’t as popular with the senior leadership team? Not sure why that would be. Seems like a decent person and capable Minister.

Dreyfus can come across as rude, arrogant and abrasive - maybe his colleagues had enough ?

Dreyfus is probably the key reason no action has been taken on robodebt.

Phil Coorey explained it on Insiders.

The results for Labor in the election improved the position of the Victorian right over the NSW Right, so that NSW Right had to lose a Cabinet post to Victoria. Marles told the NSW Right that they would have to drop one of their nominated candidates, and that one should be Husic, so that Victoria could have the extra seat it was now entitled to. Anyone who saw Husic’s interview on Insiders this morning would realise that there is no love lost between Husic and Marles.

Off his own bat, Marles decided to sack Dreyfus (who was one of his own Vic Right members), which would give him a second free post to award to his own personal arselickers. While Dreyfus at 68 is old enough to apply for the pension, he had informed the Party before the election that he would like to continue on as Attorney General, and this had been accepted. During the vote count, Dreyfus had on numerous occasions attempted to contact Marles, but Marles ignored him until yesterday morning when he made a curt phone call to Dreyfus to tell him he was sacked.

Goodbye to the Moslem Gaza supporter. Goodbye to the non-Zionist Jewish lawyer. Hello to the developing Marlesian empire.

Unlike Marles, Ed Husic is an honest, honorable man, a hard worker who has done his job both well and efficiently. His humanity is as refreshing as it is apparent. He is meeting Albo face-to-face tomorrow, after which we’ll know whether Albo has found his cojones yet. It’s high time Marles was consigned to the Labor shitcan - but has Albo the guts to do it ?.

Here’s a thought: Albo is head of the NSW Left. What’s to stop him inviting Husic to change factions, and accept a ministry as a member of the NSW Left ? (The same trick might even work for Dreyfus in VIC, but it’s likely, I reckon, that he’ll just resign his seat and create a by-election, which Labor will lose.)

They could then make him ambassador somewhere.

Marles is a two-faced clown. Trying to turn the Labor party into a poor man’s Menzies Liberal Party.

Axe this muppet, and put him back in his place.

Time for Albanese to pull this idiot into line.

Husic didn’t play well with others, and paid the price. In my view a below average Minister, and his portfolio has not kicked any goals in the last three years, in fact science is probably at its lowest ebb in my experience.

Dreyfus is just a grumpy old bloke, much like me, except he is a lawyer and Jewish, so he has
Crosses to bear. He has been adequate as Attorney General but seems to get distracted by his pet issues. He went to Scotch College like @dmaplestone but now seems to have lost the chocolates. He should have quit and let some new person take over. He has a very safe Labor seat.

Not sure that Richard Marles likes anyone. I find him a really boring bloke, like most factional leaders in Labor Right. He surrounds himself by people who suck up badly to him, but he does reward them. He is pushing hard for Ben Carroll to replace Jacinta.

There’s no way Labor will move that far left…

Can you imagine Marles behaving like this under a Daniel Andrew’s Government?

He would have been turfed out the door.

His father George Dreyfus is very grumpy, if a good composer, musical scores for films and TV.

LOL

Factional leaders in all Parties sack and promote all the time, real democracy reigns, as these Blokes always have the numbers. Only notable this time because one is Muslim and one is Jewish and one is from Sydney and one is from Melbourne.

Marles would see this as well balanced. No-one really cares, except maybe for Husic and Dreyfus.

Dreyfus is a Zionist

In Australia it’s estimated around 80% of Jews are Zionists (much higher in the US up to 95% although I suspect the real number is 80%-90%). Dreyfus being a Zionist isn’t surprising

Marles will end up as PM

Not enamoured with Jacinta but Ben Carroll is a self-serving ■■■■ head

After the medical research portfolio finally got back to the DoH (from DJPR), and so much bureaucratic knotty misaligned crap was getting sorted out after years, he became deputy leader and got to choose his portfolios. He choose with the aim of boosting his own profile, relatability, yes, but also media opportunities and ANNOUNCES, etc - so he chose, education, sure, but also…medical research as a personal side dish.

All the straightening out of reporting lines and governance immediately sacrificed for one man.

And he gave it up after a little over a year. Probably because it’s actually a dynamic, hugely important portfolio that requires constant attention, with lots of smart people ready to call out bullshit when they see it.

Foreign Minister

Hopefully spending a great deal of time out of the country on official business.

Yep, you nailed it Comrade Droop.

Vic ALP right winger or “Centre Unity” have always been self serving wankers. Any good ones defect to the Left or leave Parliament. I have a feeling that Ben Carroll is a Bomber Supporter, if correct, it is only positive I can see.

I suspect he may struggle to hold his seat in next year’s election.

Can’t see Marles as Foreign Minister, and never as pm.

They are not. Well at least, over the last 20 years domestic building productivity had dropped.

It’s a shame, Husic actually seemed to be really enthusiastic and active in his portfolio. I know people in my industry that have dealt with him and speak very highly of his work.

Labor gonna labor though.
