Australian Policies -- from 2025 Federal election

The sooner Pocock forms a party the better.

Edit: the rugby one.

isis brides , is this like a new married at first site spin off?

Why ? It is so easy to be a Senator, not so sure Pocock has the brains to handle much else.

Drunken soldiers and sealers compete for the hand of the deeply reluctant ‘dusky’ Princess, all before the glorious backdrop of Botany Bay. “Married at First Landing Site”, coming January 2026. A concept we can all vote Yes on!

He runs laps around the best of your lot.

What’s more, he campaigns on issues that actually impact the populace.

I can see why you wouldn’t like him.

Actually have no like or dislike for the big bloke. I do know many Senators, including many independents over the years, as it is easy to get to tell them of your pet grievances. All good people, but totally ineffective.

Hansen being an outrageous bigot and racist, and weird, is much more effective, but again limited to a ratbag element.

Sadly for our democracy potentially good leaders as perhaps Pocock is, becomes a whinger and irritant, but like the bloke in Tassie who has been an MP for over 15 years. Works hard, full of good ideas but unless he has a casting vote in any vote is just ignored.

Back when I was at University last century, there was a grand debate about the Senate being a real house of review. Not elected, but 100 appointed people. Great idea until you try to find a way to get the “best” 100. No-one could agree on the virtues needed, so it ended as a pointless exercise, bit like current Senate.

As an ACT senator, I am very happy with his representation of the Territory. He asks good questions, focusing on issues that are priorities and is persistent. His questions at Estimates are exactly what you’d expect - not political but also holding public service to account.

The recent question about why taxpayers spent $20,000 sending somebody’s PA overseas, business class, to check if hotels were suitable for the executive to stay in.

Pub test is failed.

That should be questioned. Estimates is an essential accountability tool.
