Reckon that is rubbish Davo. We do not have Woolies in the Marsh, Coles, Aldi, FoodWorks and two IGAs. The closest Woolies is in Melton and we shop with them and Coles and FoodWorks equally, as it suits.

The pub group in question (Chinese owned) AVC reversed its decision within a week and apologised. Australia Day celebrations at AVC’s 200 plus pubs/venues now welcome. Another quick 180.

I might talk sh.t and know nothing about much but I do know a bit about the grocery industry after 25 years… I’ve dealt with supermarket retailers all my working life so if there’s anything at all I might be knowledgeable in, it’s this.

I’ll take all that as a yes. I’m already looking forward to the 2026 instalment of “Supermarket Australia Day Chinese Merch Wars”.
I like the purity of it as a series, like there’s nothing jingoistic behind it or anything. It’s just a love of patriotic tat and a concern for the integrity of our great goods marketers. I don’t think the word ‘woke’ has even been used yet! Do i get my participation certificate Lawry? Happy holidays!
