Australian Policies -- from October 2024

Was it laden with expletives !? An unfiltered BF election paraphernalia would be interesting

Would’ve ended with “you get what you deserve, you racist idiots. Thank you for your vote.”

Hey, what was the result of the 2nd referendum that Dutton promised Indigenous Australians if they voted No in the first one? I think I missed it somewhere.

As to US ownership of Australian industry, I recall an incident when Brazil wanted us to be a joint complainant in a WTO challenge to US subsidies and other protection of its cotton production. At that time we were the world’s largest cotton exporter. The feedback from our industry was lukewarm because of US investment.
In any event the slavish attachment to our great and powerful friend across the water, fearful of offending them, put a stopper on us joining the challenge. Brazil won the case hands down, resulting in huge adjustments to US support to its cotton industry and every one else in the trade policy club had a laugh at us for not pursuing our rights under the WTO rules.

Because your post wasn’t doin. It’s what he promised. It’s the first thing you’ve posted that made any sense :joy:

Jeepers. Stop complaining about electricity prices.
Do some research and swap providers.

I recently swapped electricity providers; not only is the peak rate much cheaper, the supply charge is cheaper. For example:

3 months supply charge comes to $40.53; which is less than half of what I was paying.

Even if prices increased, it is still a lot cheaper than what I was paying before. Overall, my estimate is its 2/3rds cheaper.

Sam Rae has spots available for door-knocking and telephone banking, and of course can supply a large sign free of charge to adorn the front of your home.

I have never actually liked negative campaigns, but in this case as it is the absolute truth, I did not complain. The sad part really is that you have to hammer home all the negative stuff as most Voters do not care enough to find out for themselves, and they also like this approach

If I wrote the election guff, it would abide by both comments.

Having been a Labor Member for so long and worked on so many election campaigns, I now believe I have a serious brain defect to have put myself continually through it.

Not sure that the Albanese “this man” is a true statement. A shitload of Australians are just as likely to fall for Duttons garbage .

Some of my extended family in the Hawke and Vic State equivalent with Josh Bull are Branch Members, put a lot in as volunteers. I stay out of it.
Josh Bull has a lot of scores on the board in his electorate. I’m not aware of any Sam Rae scores and I wasn’t thrilled that he was parachuted in as a candidate.

You know he’s not actually interested in that.
The talking point of the day was that Albo broke his election promise.
He said electricity prices would be $275 lower by the end of his term. He also said that was based on independent modelling that took into account ALP policy.
I’ve read that what it didn’t take into account was Russia invading Ukraine. I don’t really understand how that affects the cost of domestic energy prices, but obviously someone smarter than me thinks it’s relevant.

I’m more than willing to concede that as a broken promise.
I would like anyone attaching any importance to it, however, to concede that energy prices are lower than they would have been under the LNP, since they opposed the rebate.
I’d also like them to concede that energy costs will be lower under the ALP than the LNP due to the mother of all boondoggles.

I’ve really only seen or heard 1 of Dutton’s policy’s or promises that make any sense. The rest of it is just pure false bravado and pie in the sky stuff

If you are in Victoria you can do it here.

That’s because nobody (including Liberal MPs) has any idea what their policies are.

Apparently they’re getting increasingly frustrated by the flip-floping from Dutton, inside the LNP caucus.

Their policy on insurance companies is a classic example.

Also, the Vic Essential Services Commission energy support program on how to claim rebates on energy bills ( not all are automatic).

I was interested to know the retailer offering such a low daily conection fee, trauling through the comparison site is a very inefficient way of finding that out

Sorry then. But its a good way to get the best deal for you.

I did my research via Choice:

“Diamond and Amber Electric topped our survey with complaints scores of 98% or better, customer service of at least 70% or better, and Green Electricity Guide scores of 70% or better. In fact, Diamond scored 100% in the Green Electricity Guide.”

I decided on Amber, as they are Victorian based.
