Australian Policies -- from October 2024

There’s likely more achievements.

Well, Stone was usually riding a Norton - the featherbed frame was about the only pommie setup that actually handled properly , lol - , but yeah, it seems the call went out for anyone in Sydney, and well beyond for the funeral scene - who had a Z900 to be an extra in the film :grinning: . And of course Mad Max made them front and centre as well.

All of the ■■■ bikes of that era had a classic aura about them. Kwaka Z’s , yamaha XS’s , Honda CB’s and they all cashed in on the collapse of the UK industry, who’s quality and tech was complete garbage by then.

Ducati , Guzzi and even Laverda were starting to produce some absolutely era defining models though, which showed that it wasn’t purely about, err, build quality …

But we may be slightly off topic now , lol.

EDIT - J a p is censored !?

That’s why taxes are going up, to pay for this mess. Victoria needs a new government, simple as that.

The people of Victoria don’t agree

Imagine basing your whole personality on a mode of transport. Even complete with cute matching leather jackets.

They might next time, though.

But Labor’s best asset is the current Vic Liberal party. It might be enough.

That’s fantastic insight. I knew there were some Brits in that film but most of the world thinks of that shape and form now and thinks Japanese. Doesn’t matter, looked very cool in a different way to the Easy Rider iconography, and a lot more comfortable over the stretch I imagine!

Think my introduction to Nortons, or at least British motorbikes was the Robert Westall novel “The Devil on the Road”. The bloke who wrote “The Machine Gunners”, and with the same fetish level detail about the bike as the war paraphernalia from that story. It was either a Norton or a Triumph. Must find a copy of it, see how it holds up. Speaking of off topic.

It’s about freeeeedom maaaaan

I disagree. I think the mood has changed.

Still 18 months away and the opposition is still a rudderless rabble so who knows

I’d be shocked if the Vic LNP don’t win the next state election.

Granted, it’s still 20 months away and things could change a lot, but the Vic ALP are absolutely cooked as it stands.

It’ll be wall to wall negative press from Stokes, Murdoch, Ch9 and the usual radio suspects. Should be tight but with the ammo they’re providing and the old 'it’s time for a change to the other mob who we know very little about but they’re definitely no good at stuff, are constantly at war with each other, and are now infiltrated by cookers and Christo fascists who want to remove human rights under the dainty umbrella of “small government”"

I mean, you gotta give them a chance right?

As we learned from the Saga, Nick McKenzie isn’t that pure in his crusades ( leaving out the bits and manipulating the facts) .

I think you are over playing the impact of media on Victorian voting.

The last state election, the media could not have gone harder to try remove the ALP, and they gained ground on what was a landslide in 2018.

If the ALP are booted, it’ll be genuine discontent, not because of media agendas. And I think the discontent is quite significant - see Werribee by-election.

The Machine Gunners was one of my favourite books as a kid. The whole concept was very cool. Never came across The Devil on The Road though.

I was lucky enough that my school library had most of Robert Westall’s books for some reason. Great stuff to read as a kid, and from memory a couple of them were probably a bit more adult than the librarian knew.

You may be right, but they’re on the nose and there’s a role that modern media of a certain persuasion relishes, and that’s keeping them on the nose.

Interesting that Allen’s new child bail proposal, something that the Bec Judd types here should be celebrating and that right wing media would be running hard with in Vic if it were an LNP ‘result’ disappeared from sight virtually overnight.

I’m not sure who that plays well for really. But that window keeps shifting toward the devil’s door.

Next time. Labor are stinking it up here in Victoria

Did you ever read the sequel?

Title was Full Fathom Five, or something like that.
