It’s questionable I think if it’s that big of a vote winner at the moment.

If we had of had the big government deficits(it’s forecast based on iron ore prices)

But they aren’t here yet.

And given the LNPs record on government debt over its last decade in power they are a pretty big target.

Perhaps that’s the reason why they have the policy if challenged on their woeful economic performance

It’s purely “look at me getting rid of these leeches on the taxpayer, I’m tough and Albo is a soft touch”. Desperately seeking a signature policy, and the bonus part is if they get in they have a mandate to gut public services then invite and subsidise private to gouge the taxpayer twice over.

You think, given the lack of consequential fallout from Robodebt, that they’d have any qualms about putting similar systems in place too? Small govt for the LNP is farming off essential services and getting busy with social engineering.

Anyone would think that Dutton is campaigning for the Victorian State election. Piling on about Vic Government failings and offering no solutions .
Mr Harbour views

Surpised labor arent reminding people abput robo debt . The PS sackings are going to cause similar personal damage to people.
Interestingly today SKY news are trying to cheerlead for liberals are out interviewing people on the street and not many liking dutton and many comparing him to trump.
Dutton now sayng he will stand up to trump after weeks or months of demandng Albo should be joining the conga line to lick trumps butt

lol the old ill stay at Kirribilli play is just Canberra bashing.

Which is popular. Dutton will no doubt stay all over the place.

The ALP have a bit much glass in the construction of their own house in that department to be chucking stones about. Starting with the running sore that is the shonky NACC and it’s profoundly corrupt un-investigation of the whole issue, but also a number of other departments that use very similar methodologies.

He’s copying Pierre Poilievre too now?

It’s less Canberra bashing than the grandeur of living at Kirribilli and its location.
There was some justification for Howard and Morrison, two Sydney families , their electorates in Sydney, with school kids. For security reasons they couldn’t continue to reside in their own homes.
Dutton’s electorate is in Brisbane , another State.
His stated reason for Kirribilli is the Harbour view. How does that resonate with people trying to get a roof over their heads in battler postcodes without any views.

Probably not but it’s just a distraction.

Canberra isn’t popular for a lot of people. Thats just the way it is.

Of course neither is Sydney. But I’d say the Canberra bashing is an easier target .

He doesn’t want to make out he’s running the country from some farm in the Brisbane Hinterland or whereever the Dutton family spread is

if you’re comparing two things, and one of them lead to several suicides, that one is going to seem several orders of magnitudes worse than the other one

some might say it’s to the point where it’s a really bad comparison

This is probably example of why…. He senses an opportunity to gain frustrated voters who are ready for change and potentially see some of that merge into the Federal election.

He will pick up some seats in Victoria. Question is, how many… It’s difficult to know.

if he wants public servants to return to working in the office full time he can start us off

Nothing says ‘vote winner’ in Victoria like coming down hard on African gangs and crime……

Not normally a news corpse fan but if this became an election issue I think it would be a very good thing.

So Dutton wants to ape his mentor, Used Johnny Howard, and live at Kirribilli for the Harbour views. Never mind that the public purse is already paying maximum price to maintain the PM’s residence, the Lodge, in the Commonwealth capital, his place of work.

There are six state capitals. Why does one of them deserve a PM’s residence, while the other five do not ?

Given current Sydney property values, Kirribilli, and the other house next door to it, which I believe is currently being used by the Navy, should be worth at the very least $10,000,000 each. Albo should SELL both of them. The money would be most advantageous in the public purse, where it could be used for the ongoing maintenance of The Lodge.

Come on Albo - announce the sale as part of your election campaign !

“Do you see the value of the asset declining PM? What aren’t you telling us, why are you selling it now? Is this just an attempt to try reduce your budget deficit?”

etc etc

Kirribilli is officially the Commonwealth’s Guest House for foreign VIPs.
It goes back to the days of the port of first arrival in Australia.
Admiralty House is the second residence of the GG, the main residence is Yarralumla, close to PH and the Lodge. Yarralumla is the main location for the GG to sign legislation, swearing in of Ministers and dissolution of Parliament.
