Australian Policies -- from October 2024

July I think, but they can have an emergency meeting whenever they want.

Ilic is on a roll.

When you mix Blue and Green you get Teal.

Ouch.

Also you get Brown mixing Blue and too.

In fact to confuse them further trumpy yellow and dutto blue is green!

I’m almost certain there are provisions that, while taking bipartisan agreement, can enable government activity during caretaker periods.

Who do you think organised those alleged payments to CFMEU ? It was Construction Companies .

Yeah, but if we’re talking stuff like the GFC stimulus or JobKeeper, which were the govt responses to the last two major international crises, it’s not just government activity you’re talking about, it’s bills that need to pass through parliament.

I’m no expert (very far from one) on this sort of stuff, but I have major doubts that a caretaker govt can enact anything of that scope. I mean, I’m sure there’s emergency provisions of some sort (in case a war started during an election campaign for example), but there’d be limits too. And can you imagine what, in the real world, the catfight would be like trying to design and pass a major emergency package n the middle of a very tight election campaign and with a couple of weeks til polling day?

Always interesting when parties ditch policies that they told you were economically essential and trying to look tough on a certain population when it’s then revealed that they’re flat out socially on the nose.

So no criticism towards the obvious offenders from Albert’s post?

That’s one of the big differences between you rusted on right wingers and the rest of here.

I have no problems criticising Labor, the Greens, Independents etc

You lot can never bring yourselves to admit that your beloved Right Wing Pollies could ever do something wrong.

You always bring up something bad from the other side.

Why can’t you just admit that they get it wrong sometimes?

Yes of course it’s all the construction company’s fault. The CFMEU never threatened anyone or stood over people to graft off cash payments, they just turned up to work and those terrible construction companies just handed them free money. The CFMEU is innocent. @Bacchusfox please.

That is one hell of a shift from the original point.
Are you conceding that the LNP is actually outright corrupt by not even acknowledging the post you replied to?

I was being sarcastic @wimmera1

Or, sometimes you ‘left wingers’ can’t read or don’t comprehend what’s written. This post earlier today casts doubt on your assertion.

What were you being sarcastic about?

Wow…look at you wearing your big boy pants and quoting your own post to show how you right wingers call out the libs!!!

You must be so proud that you managed to do it once.

What’s you view on Albert’s post? (quoted here so you don’t have to go and look for it)

Oy Vey. I was being sarcastic that the CFMEU hadn’t ever done anything wrong. It was all the fault of the construction companies

Then that’s really not what I was saying, so I’ll make it clear
Albert alleged over a billion dollars of corruption by the LNP, and you just skipped it and jumped on the CFMEU.
Is that because you accept that it’s so obvious the LNP are corrupt that it’s not even worth discussing, or what are you doing there?

You replied and quoted his post, but didn’t address anything in his post, so…

I wasn’t commenting on that post. I was merely calling out the folly of yours.

I’ve said on many occasions I don’t like any politicians, they mislead, break promises and that they can’t be trusted. I’ve got little time for them, all persuasions.

I reckon my post was pretty accurate actually…maybe you’re an exception to the rule but if you’re honest, you’ll admit that it is pretty rare for any of our right leaning posters to call out the libs when they do something wrong.

If you feel I’m wrong, knock yourself and show me posts that prove me wrong.

Which friend died unexpectedly to let you become mayor ?

As Parliament is prorogued, legislation is Impossible.
Convention is no new policies. Hence any response to Trump on tariffs and non tariff barriers that required legislation couldn’t come into effect during the caretaker period .
It could be possible to use regulatory powers devolved to a Minister under legislation. The visa power for instance.
