Hi @Lawry , I share your puzzlement about Who TF some people are hallucinating they are talking to as well as WTF they think they are talking about.
As well as Why TF some of the same people were completely unswayed by your patient efforts to explain to them that denouncing their opponents as stupid racists was not helpful to Whatever TF it is that they want to achieve that somehow overlaps with your own intention to vote YES.
My own theories about their behaviour were related to blind group think and mutual admiration cliques as I don’t like to assume simple “stupidity”. Not just for obvious tactical reasons but because my own views are usually so “fringe” that I empathize with people sticking to their views despite widespread rejection.
But my theory is not consistent with recent contrary evidence. An obviously pointless attack from Crikey on Jacinta Price by one of what I call “the usual suspects” for air fare expenses representing NT in Canberra was (politely) corrected by others in a manner inconsistent with them just always blindly uniting to ignore the obvious.
I’m going to bed now but wondering whether you would be interested in exchanging views in this thread as to what is the explanation for the fact that nearly 3/4 of those voting in the poll are still voting that Jacinta Price is stupid.
BTW the total vote has now increased to 19 so there won’t be 2 clear weekdays of no change before weekend and poll will stay open till at least Wednesday. Continued very slow shift level with NEITHER at 32% now ahead of STUPID at 26% with BOTH (STUPID and RACIST) at 46%.
So nearly half say she’s RACIST and two-thirds that she is STUPID.
I’m guessing that calling people whose views one does not like STUPID is just “normal” behaviour here.
But I would like to discuss with you (and others interested in serious discussion - ignoring any background noise) why people claiming to support a YES vote here are so adamantly sticking to damaging behaviour that the leaders of the YES campaign have desperately been trying to discourage their supporters from continuing.
