Important NTC announcement re. negotiations with the clubThe North Terrace Collective (NTC) would like to announce to all its members and fellow Melbourne Victory fans that, due to a seemingly unbridgeable difference of positions between the terrace representatives and the club, we will be cutting any negotiations with club staff indefinitely.
We would like to make it clear to everyone this has not been an easy decision to make, but we feel it is the only choice we can take in the best interests of the future of the North Terrace.
From the beginning of this process, the North Terrace has made it very clear that the lifting of all three of the restrictions put in place this season (the implementation of tarps and scanners, as well as the banning of group banners) were non-negotiable for us. This means that, before we would enter into any further negotiations with the club, these three restrictions would have to first be removed.
Given the fact only one of these restrictions has been removed – the prohibition on group banners – we are extremely unsatisfied with the club‘s approach to resolving an issue that is affecting a large section of Melbourne‘s supporter-base.
At a meeting on Thursday the 5th of December, representatives of the NTC presented the club with a proposal for improvement of the terrace. Included in this proposition was the suggestion of a system for 2014/15 onwards that will accommodate all members of the North Terrace and allow for inevitable growth. MVFC have declined to discuss the proposal at this stage.
We deem the club‘s response to be totally inadequate and, as a result, will not be returning to future discussions with the club until the point in time when there is a substantial shift in their position on our non-negotiable points.
We would like to make it clear that the North Terrace will still be attending this Friday‘s home match against Perth as planned, however we will continue to boycott the designated "active area". Planned actions for matches beyond this Friday have yet to be decided.
We request that North Terrace members remain united and committed to building a terrace that we can all be proud of.
OUR WAY!
