The tactical set up is very similar to our Dutch side in 2010.
Bert Van Marwijk likes to have wingers cut inside to preferred foot, rather than cross wide. It makes them more of a scoring threat. Think Robben and Van Der Vaart.
Striker plays with their back to goal, holding the ball up and bringing the midfielders in with Rogic and Mooy. Ie. Sneijder & Van Bommel
He likes to use his central midfielders as the primary scoring weapon, rather than the lone striker.
Czechs are pretty average nowadays and they aren’t really playing for anything so are just going through the motions. We are playing well in patches but still look brittle at the back and if we try to play this expansive style against France it will get very ugly
Pretty half ar.sed performance from Czech Republic. Haven’t been interested in closing the ball down. They’ve just allowed Australia to cut them open with triangles. They’ve had no purpose when they’ve had possession.
Australia have been pretty solid at the back tho and have been attacking the goals in numbers. The ability for the wingers to cut inside, rather than stay wide means there is more scoring options inside the box. Hence Leckie scoring twice.
