2016 Draft Summary

Pick 23 - Lin Jong CF
Previous BBFFL#2 games – 9 – Smooth 9 (2015)
After a mid-season trade to bring Scott Selwood to the Bulls I went into the post trade period without a first round pick. I flirted with the idea of getting back into the draft via a trade but none of the deals I considered were worth the cost. So in the end my hands were somewhat tied and as a result I was always likely to bypass the first year players to acquire someone with experience with pick 23.

Once the delistings were finalised I found myself drawn towards the likes of Aaron Hall, Brandon Matera and Shaun Atley. Naturally these players were well gone by 23 and the one youngster who I would have snapped up if available was Matthew Kennedy was taken at 17 by Stoops.

When pick 23 arrived I had narrowed it down to 5 players – Jong, Harry Cunningham (CBH’s spud variety), Cam Sutcliffe, Will Langford and Nick Robertson my last delistee. The added flexibility of dual positions meant Jong and Cunningham were preferred. Jong ended up winning out off the back of a best on ground in NAB 2 and an arguably higher ceiling. If he can cement a spot in the Bulldogs best 22 I see him as a reasonable scorer, although somewhat inconsistent. It was a little frustrating that he failed to produce too much in the last NAB match.

Pick 41 - Cameron Sutcliffe B
Previous BBFFL#2 games – 46 - Come Back Hirdy 35 (2014 to 2015), Redbull 11 (2013)
With my second pick I was again keen to go best available. At first I had no preference on which position I filled but after grabbing a mid/forward with my first pick I thought I should address my backline. Upon review I may have done better than expected and have rated Sutcliffe a starter in my best 18. His average fell last year after he has steadily built it up over the previous couple of years. It was surprising to find him in the draft pool after playing 17 games for Come Back Hirdy last year. I am hoping he plays a more attacking role this year with Freo.

As I mentioned after drafting him I had regretted my decision to cut him before our 2014 draft and was extremely pleased to welcome him home! Interestingly in that same cull from my backline I also got rid of Taylor Duryea and Brad Sheppard, while I kept fantasy guns like Jake Batchelor, Sam Darley, Luke Russell and Dan Nicholson (need I not mention that Jordan Gysberts also made my keepers that year – yuk!!!).

Other players I considered at 41 included Kieran Lovell, Josh Dunkley, Nick Robertson, Brayden Fiorini and Zak Jones. Also a player who would have been strongly considered if he had remained on the board was the little ball magnet Caleb Daniel.

Pick 59 - Josh Dunkley C
First Year Player
After taking two mature age players I decided to assess which first year players remained in the draft pool. I was very surprised to find three potential fantasy guns still available. On this basis each of Kieran Lovell, Brayden Fiorini and Dunkley were considered.

Fiorini’s numbers from TAC Cup and National Championships made a compelling argument and the injuries to key Gold Coast players meant there could be opportunities early this season. However I was swayed away in the end after finding out he had suffered some setbacks during the preseason and read some talk that the Suns wanted him to round out his game some more before giving him a crack at AFL.

Lovell was another fantasy superstar at underage level. I doubt he would have been left in the pool at this stage if he had gone to any other club, but given he is at Hawthorn game time may be difficult to secure this year.

So in the end I went with the player I think is most likely to get games this year in Dunkley. The Bulldogs played most of their list last year and for this reason I think Dunkley will be given opportunities in 2016. I was very thankful the Bombers didn’t draft him as I feel his kicking is a concern, however this is fantasy and the scoring we use means a kick is 3 points no matter where it goes. His big body should enable him to fit in at AFL level straight away and be able to rack up the +4s by laying many tackles. Playing much of last year in the VFL also gives him a head start by having already played against men.

Pick 77 - Nick Robertson C
Previous BBFFL#2 games – 11 - Redbull 10 (2015), Eggs 1 (2014)

As I stated above, my last delistee in Robertson was a consideration at 23. Therefore to see him still on the board at 77 made it a no brainer. The Lion’s midfield is arguably their strength but with Beams not having a preseason (and now going down with knee tendinitis) I still felt there was a place for Robertson. Having watched him closely last year I feel he tends to drift in and out of games. I am hoping this is a result of his fitness levels and relative immaturity level as an AFL footballer. If he can bring himself into the game more his scoring should improve. Unfortunately he was poor on the weekend and a Round 1 berth must be in question.

Other players that were in the mix but not really considered at this pick were – Fiorini (may live to regret overlooking him), Claye Beams, Alex Sexton and Zac Jones again. Also there were some prospects that I would have considered had they not gone between 60 and 76 – Ed Langdon and Riley Bonner.

Pick 95 - Brendan Whitecross BF
Previous BBFFL#2 games – 27 - TDSpartan 26 (2012 to 2013) Come Back Hirdy 1 (2015)

With Fiorini gone this became the most difficult pick I made during the draft. The reason was I really wanted to bring Alex Sexton back to the Bulls. During the trade period it became apparent The Melkman was very keen to get his hands on Sexton again as well (he played one game for Melky back in 2012). After no trade could be negotiated a game of cat and mouse ensued between the two of us. At one stage Sexton actually found himself back into my keepers merely due to Melky’s interest. However I held strong and once I couldn’t trade out Daniher for a first rounder I decided he was best to be moved on with a view of picking him up again. In the final throws of trade week I tried my luck at securing Pick 96 from Birch so I had an extra pick before The Melkman could pounce at 103, but unfortunately nothing materialised.

The counter argument to Sexton was Whitecross who I see as a high risk high reward fantasy player. In 2012 he averaged 88 before knee injuries have chopped him down. His ball winning ability shone through last year at VFL level and a first full preseason since 2012 had me bullish about him. Also going in his favour was the added flexibility that a dual position back/forward would bring to my squad and that he was named in the team for NAB 3.

While it is too early to regret my choice, thus far it hasn’t gone too well. Sexton came out on the weekend and scored 83, showing all the signs that a breakout fantasy season is imminent, while Whitecross was cut from the Hawks squad and faces an uphill battle to win his spot back for Round 1.

Pick 105 - Andrew Moore C
Previous BBFFL#2 games – 28 - Bargey 8 (2012), Stoops 8 (2013), 51 Bewick 3 (2014), Pazza 9 (2015)

Andrew Moore joined his 5th BBFFL#2 team when I decided to pull the trigger and take him with 105. With the increase to 7 mids this year my squad was still one starting mid short. Also the injury concerns to the Selwood brothers meant my squad could be stretched early in the season.

I therefore sifted through the teams that had been named for NAB 3 and looked at the available mids. Names that came out of this search included Brent Macaffer, Ryan Lester, Moore and Jono O’ Rourke. Farren Ray and Jarrad Jansen had been in the mix but their failure to get named ruled them out. Moore fitted the bill well given he adds something that the Tigers midfield is arguably missing. I expect the Tigers will play him early and my expectations are that he will be a key part to their mid rotation. This was confirmed after his game on Thursday night were he scored a respectable 79.

If I was taking this pick now I probably would go for O’Rourke in preference to Moore knowing how well he scored on the weekend and also because of Liam Shiels’ injury.

Pick 112 - Toby Nankervis RF Previous BBFFL#2 games – 5 - Cafegerat 5 (2015)

This pick was a pick for position coverage. Having two ruckman who should get regular games means my squad was reasonably well off for rucks, but given their relative scarcity I thought it was important to add another one. The logical fits were ruckman backing up my current rucks in Sinclair and Nicholls. With Dan Currie going in the 40s, it basically came down to 3 choices, Nankervis, Keegan Brooksby and Tom Derickx. The field was shortened to two options with Derickx not getting a game in NAB 3. The risk with Brooksby is that Gold Coast have a number of other options they could throw into the ruck before he gets a game, names like Wright, Currie and possibly Day or Lynch. Sydney on the other hand are already playing Tippett in the ruck and it really appears that Nankervis is next big man in, either as a ruckman or even possibly as a forward. Therefore the choice became relatively straightforward. His failure to really trouble the fantasy scorers on Friday night is a concern, but he is only a backup and if he is playing regularly the Bulls are in trouble.

Pick 128 - Ryan Lester C
Previous BBFFL#2 games – 34 – Come Back Hirdy 16 (2012 to 2013), Stoops 18 (2012 & 2014)

Back to back picks in the 120s meant I could cover off positional requirements. As with pick 105 I thought it was important to get some additional depth in the mids. So once again I run through the available options. All of the players I had considered when taking Moore remained in the pool. Lester appealed for two reasons, one his 2014 season when he averaged 78 and two I feel he has the possibility of picking up a dual position at some stage during the season (gees that would be nice to annoy @wezza ). Reflecting back on this pick, for some reason I seemed to have overlooked O’Rourke on the belief he wasn’t picked for NAB 3. I have my fingers crossed that I don’t live to regret this oversight. Lester was solid without setting the word on fire on the weekend. With Mathieson going down injured I think there is a spot in the Lions team for Round 1.

Pick 129 - Jaden McGrath BF
No Previous BBFFL#2 Games

Again this pick was more a positional move. McGrath jumped to the top of the queue given his back forward status. In 2015 his strong preseason form saw him rewarded with early games before he broke down with a foot injury. Also he is still a teenager so he also serves to add another youngster to the list. Getting a game in NAB 3 was also important. The other player strongly considered here was Jackson Ramsay. Again hindsight is a wonderful thing – McGrath went down in the first minute of his NAB game while Ramsay pumped out a 94 – ■■■■■■ Bargey!

Pick 146 - Sam Lloyd F
Previous BBFFL#2 games – 15 - Redbull 8 (2014), Smooth 7 (2015)

With my last pick I thought I should add another forward to the mix. I hadn’t taken a forward since my first pick – as I don’t primarily consider rucks or backs with forward status to be forwards. A few names including my perennial delist/draftee Hayden Crozier were considered but the choice was decided after a phone call to my mum who confirmed what news Sam’s mum had about his likelihood of getting a regular game. On the back of this intelligence I thought it was worth the risk of taking somewhat of a sentimental pick. The boy is hurting after getting dropped by the Tigs for their final last year – even more so when he was told he was definitely playing early in the week. Having caught up with him over Christmas he is fitter than ever meaning he should be able to play out full games now. Also his scoring was drastically impacted by the sub rule last year, so with that rule going he should be able to push his average back into the 60s. I didn’t like cutting him last year and couldn’t be happier to have him back at the Conargo Bulls this year (ironically we play a game of cricket together each year for Conargo).

Overall Summary
I think I have strengthen my squad with a couple of solid midfield additions and a likely back starter. My depth is also a lot stronger than in previous years. Early season form has been my achilles heel since BBFFL#2 started and I put this down squarely to the fact I have drafted too often based on potential rather than choosing players who will get games. I feel I have rectified this situation with this year’s draft. Of the 10 players taken only 3 didn’t play in NAB 3. This will be important given I already have injury concerns to a number of key squad members.

This season I am hopeful that I will start to see the rewards for a 5 year plan I entered into in mid 2012. It was at this stage that I decided to go down the youth path. Slowly but surely I traded out my older players and my list currently has an average age of 23.6. Joel Selwood is the eldest player in my squad (turns 28 in May) – so it is unlikely WOB and I will be doing much trading this year! Out of interest, the average age of my draftees this year was only 22.9, despite only taking 1 first year player. Whitecross and Lloyd were the eldest taken, both aged 26.

Wins wise I will be looking to improve on the 7 achieved last year. I broke even over the last 14 weeks after losing my first 5. After averaging 1252 points in 2012 the team has subsequently averaged 1182, 1180 and then 1277. Wins wise I have gone 9, 3, 3 and then 7. If I can improve by another 50 points this year than finals are within reach. The lowest average score to make the finals each year has been 1307, 1322, 1313 and 1331 respectively. From Round 4 onwards last year I averaged 1330 so it is definitely achievable. Injuries will be the key to ensure I increase my average by 50 points a week. Last year Harwood and Conca basically didn’t play and Jack Martin missed a lot of the season. Interestingly the best 18 scorers in my 20 keepers would have scored 1399 if they played to their average in 2015 – yet I only achieved a score in the 1400s twice last year. If injuries are taken as a given (especially when you consider for Round 1 I won’t have Scott Selwood, Jamie Elliott and Liam Shiels and question marks hang over Reece Conca and Joel Selwood) then it is important I get improvement out of some of my younger players. In particular I need to have Daniher show that Sunday wasn’t a one off and that he can do that week in week out, Martin to stay fit and have a breakout year and for Conca to stay fit and push his average back towards 80. All of these are within the realms of possibility.

As always I am pumped for the season and can’t wait to get stuck into it!

Steez Merchants 2016

Backs: Brendon Goddard, Jarrod Harbrow, Easton Wood, Christian Salem, Sharrod Wellingham
Centres: Josh Kennedy, Anthony Miles, Ed Curnow, David Zaharakis, Aaron Hall, Will Langford, Aaron Vandenberg
Ruck: Stefan Martin
Forwards: Cyril Rioli, Jarrod Witts, Rhys Palmer, Tory Dickson, Adam Cooney

Interchange: Adam Tomlinson, Kamdyn McIntosh, Jeff Garlett, Jed Adcock

Emergencies: Caleb Daniel, Luke McDonald, Rohan Bewick, Colin Garland, Lindsay Thomas, Claye Beams, Charlie Curnow, Brandon Jack

It’s a good team, much improved mainly by having a great option in the ruck having traded for Stef Martin. Witts only played 11 games last year, so there are a whole lot of bonus points that weren’t in the team last year.

I also think there is big upside in Salem, McIntosh, Tomlinson and Luke McDonald. Zaharakis should be a lot better this year, too.

The draft was also very kind to me.

Pick 8 - Aaron Hall Pazza delisting Hall was a big surprise, but I think having him still available at pick 8 was even more unexpected. With Saladin having three picks before me I was sure one would be used on him.

If not for Hall being available this pick was earmarked for a new draftee - and assuming the prior picks would have gone the same way it would have been Kennedy or Keays.

Pick 26 - Charlie Curnow I’m happy to have gotten Charlie at 26 - although I’m not expecting much from him this year. This second pick would have been someone that I thought could slot straight into my best 18 had I not gotten Hall at 8.

33, 34, 44 - Will Langford, Caleb Daniel, Tory Dickson Langford and Dickson make my best 18 based on their numbers last year. I see Daniel as having huge upside - he was sub in 3 of 10 games and looks like he can find the footy.

The rest - Jed Adcock, Claye Beams, Rohan Bewick, Adam Cooney, Brandon Jack I wanted to stay away from guys that I didn’t think would get games, as no picks this late have ever been keepers of particular note for me. I think most of these guys will play, although Jack might struggle to break into Sydney’s side early.

This is hopefully the season I finally break through into the finals. I didn’t lose anyone in the Essendon suspensions, and I’ve brought in some better players. Fingers crossed.

Also what has Cobram footy club done to deserve Cunningham? More out of curiosity given they play against my hometown.

Haha, no reason, literally the first country town that popped into my head. Happy to learn that you were considering him at 23, but still think Cobram would be better off with the spud (the edible variety)

I watched my man Sam Lloyd win a premiership against Cobram in 2011 so it’s not a completely ridiculous statement.

Dangerous Dons.

I made the decision last year after multiple semi finals and a GF loss that it was time to rebuild the team before it actually needed it. As usual i had injury issues and with the average scoring of Ryder who i traded Stringer and a second rounder for it was obvious any chance i had to have another crack wasn’t going to happen.
WOB offered me a trade for Simpson and Vince mid year, so out they went and in came Josh Kennedy and 3 picks in the first 3 rounds. This gave me 6 picks in the first 3 rounds, a strong position to rebuild the squad reasonably quickly.

For the first time in this competition i had an early pick and i intended to use it wisely. Either with a good trade or a boom young talent. The trade options for one reason or another didn’t materialize so i was quite happy to head off to the draft. I had done a lot of homework on the kids and was very confident of picking quite a few potential guns mixed in with some experience.

Believe it or not i took 2 days off work for the draft! Of course any one that knows me would say there doesn’t need to be much of an excuse for me to not want to work but i say let’s not let the truth get in the way of a good story…

I was very keen on the usual suspects and if i had have had pick 1 i would have used it on either Hopper or Mills but pick 7 was my first so it was out of my hands.

Imo i have a reasonable midfield [Brad Ebert, Jack Redden, Patrick Cripps, Levi Greenwood, Danyle Pearce and Allen Christensen] so Backmen, Forwards and back up Ruckman were what i was targeting and imo i certainly got them.

BAM Sal picks Francis at pick 1 and there goes my hopes of possibly landing him at 7 and to be perfectly honest i was very confident i was going to get him there. ■■■■.

Picks of note.

Pick 7: Jacob Weitering. Touted as the best player in the draft, he was too good for me to pass on and very surprised he was still there. I doubt he will be the best fantasy player from the draft but i still think he will be a very good scorer in time and will pop up with some reasonable scores in even his first year. He is a B, an excellent mark, kick and runner.
Any player that kicks more than handballs and marks the ball with regularity is top shelf fantasy potential. He runs off his man and in today’s football where players chip the ball around the backline racking up cheap possessions before they switch sides i see him as one of the best potential fantasy backman available. While it is only the NAB he was the fourth highest intercept player in the 3 match comp with 8.5 average per game. The ball will spend a fair share of time down back for the blues for the next couple of years. I hope it’s the next couple of decades.

Pick 13: Ben Keays.
I seriously considered him for pick 7 because i didn’t want to miss out on him. This kid is a potential fantasy monster who if i am right will be a CF as opposed to a pure C. He simply does it all. Kicks goals, wins it inside and outside, has a booming left foot that is pin point, is a great mark, decision maker, beats his opponent 1 v 1 etc etc. If he doesn’t make the grade i will be absolutely shocked. The other player i would have seriously considered here if Keays was gone was Tucker but imo Lyon is one of the worst, if not the worst, coach of fantasy players and i will never forgive him for destroying Matt de Boer as a 100+ player each week and has turned him into a shadow of himself but I digress.

Pick 61: Jack Lonie.
I think he has a chance to be a good fantasy player but if he stays as a small forward that probably won’t happen but i’m very sure he is going to be a good footballer. He’s had a year under his belt now so i would expect this year he should make some decent improvement and could average around the 70 mark. He’s a bit speculative but i think he will end up a decent pick.

I still have J.Pickett my first pick 15? from 2014 draft (Was drafted pick 4 to GWS) to play a game. Very talented but hard to get a game at GWS and may once again may not be a great Fantasy player but was a great junior talent wise.

Overall i’m really happy with the draft and achieved what i set out to. Talented kids, a couple of youngish players with time in the system already who could improve and ruck back ups who with 1 injury to the main ruckman could find themselves as number 1 choice.

So how will this squad perform this year?

Much like Essendon has been for a decade + it will just be middle of the road. I would need luck with injuries to have a chance to make the finals and either plenty of games and decent scoring from the recently drafted recruits or big improvements from the established players like Grigg, Cameron, Lonie, Lever.

I feel my list is in very good shape.

Wont get a chance to update UF tonight, so tomorrow it is.

Draft Review:

Pick 19 - Wayne Milera (F)
Had one pick before 97, so was always looking for a prospect with 19. Was eyeing off Gresham before he went at 12 and would’ve had a tough choice if either of Keays or Kennedy had slipped through. Fortunately in a way, Milera was the only one of that group left and my decision became an easy one. Have been impressed by what he’s put up in the NAB comp and has the bonus of looking like he should be a F or FC for at least a few years to come.

Pick 97 - Harris Andrews (B)
Had Ryan Clarke in the top 3 for my pick at 19, so by the time he was still there at 70 odd, I was getting my hopes up that he would keep on sliding. Alas, Birch crushed my dreams, but I was more than happy to end up with Andrews. Young, easily best 22 defender who I really rate as a player. Time will tell if he can be a good fantasy scorer as well, but I’m encouraged by his NEAFL numbers last season.

Pick 103 - Alex Sexton (FC)
Sam Menegola was top of my list at this pick, but as redbull mentioned, we’d been playing a game of cat and mouse on Sexton and I knew 100% that he wasn’t going to last to my next pick at 114. Also knew that with the gap between my 4th pick at 113 and my 5th at 140 odd, a decent amount of the remaining best 22 talent was going to disappear. As a result I thought it was important to lock in another player who I was confident would make their club’s best 22, while still being young enough to develop their scoring. Was tossing up whether to choose Menegola here and go for Ryan Lester at 113 instead, but preferred Sexton.

Pick 113 - Sam Menegola ©
As mentioned, really wanted to lock Menegola in. 115 DT average in the WAFL last season and 29 pts in the less than a 1/4 he played in NAB 1 before injury. In the end I probably overrated where he would go and could have left him to slide further. Would’ve kicked myself if I missed him though, because he could very easily come out and be an 80+ average by the end of the year.

Pick 145 - Nic Newman (B)
Had Newman last season and am well aware of his scoring ability at the lower levels (100+ VFL average in 2014, 92 average in the NEAFL last year). Was in strong consideration for my keepers despite not playing a game last season, but after only scoring 20 odd in his NAB game before keeper deadline, I thought he was pretty safe to slide through. The timing of the Sydney game was annoying given I had both George Hewett and Newman fairly high on my list anyway. Thought Newman was only going to get a half game and he’d continue to slide under the radar, but when he scored 70 didn’t think I could risk him any further so pulled the trigger.

Pick 150 - Jed Lamb (F)
Think I may have stuffed this pick. Not because I’m regretting Lamb, who I actually think will be a solid choice here, but more the fact that almost immediately after making this pick, realised I had a pretty bad list imbalance in terms of a lack of C positioned players likely to feature in rd 1. I had convinced myself that both Higgins and Deledio were FCs and Jack Sinclair who I’d taken in my 20 keepers was best 22 at St Kilda after playing almost every game when available last season in his debut year. None of those 3 things were true, so when I checked what I thought my lineup would be rd 1, I suddenly realised I was going to struggle to field the 7 mids.
Lamb, Milera and Toby McLean meant I’d quite likely have 3 forwards to cover on the bench, but just 6 of 7 on-field in the middle. At the time, I thought it wouldn’t be that much of an issue and there would be plenty of available C eligible players who would feature rd 1 still around. Nope. Brent Macaffer was literally the only player left who I thought would play rd 1. This compounded the annoyance of missing out on Hewett (who went 2 picks earlier) who was also a C.

Pick 157 - Sam Frost (FR)
After my blunder the pick before, I had everything crossed that Macaffer would slide through to 157. Thought WOB at 154 would be the biggest threat, so when he didn’t go there, I thought he may just make it. But alas, wezza decided to be a jerk and take him instead. Perhaps it’s for the best as long term I don’t really want Macaffer and his perennial 60s, but it’ll likely hurt rd 1.
So with Macaffer gone I had 4 picks left all fairly close together. Decided I needed one more back, a ruck option and then two guys who were C eligible who had at least some chance in playing rd 1. With the timing of this pick, it was quite likely the Melbourne game would be at least underway by my next choice, so with Frost being R eligible and playing in that game, thought he was my best option here. Looks unlikely to play atm, but really only Cam Pedersen standing in-front of him for a game until Dawes comes back so he’s as good a shot as any of the remaining ruck prospects were at this point (ie no shot at all).

Pick 162 - Matt Dea (B)
For the defender I was looking at 3 players: Josh Cowan, who SB picked later on, Josh Wagner from the Dees and Matt Dea. This pick came up during the Essendon game when Dea was killing it, so it was a little fortuitous, though Wagner had played a mare a couple of hours before so he was off the list. It would’ve been interesting to see which may I’d have gone if the pick had come up before the Bombers game. Genuinely not sure.

Pick 163 - Adam Marcon ©
So with my final two picks in the draft I was looking for a couple of guys who were at least some shot at playing rd 1. I thought Tom Keough from GC was the best chance - who can I just say, why on Earth have Champion Data positioned him as a FC when he is clearly a KPD I have no idea - though I didn’t rate his scoring ability longer term so wasn’t 100% sure I wanted him. Thought Marcon was a solid mix of longer-term prospect and chance at rd 1 given Richmond’s injuries against Port. Don’t think he will end up playing, but happy enough to have him on my list as a prospect regardless.

Pick 168 - Tom Keough (FC)
Last pick and by this point I had convinced myself I should take Keough, even if I end up delisting him after rd 1, which is reasonably likely. Think he’s a decent chance at a rd 1 gig, but still less than a 50/50. Probably relying on a kind fixture draw to get out of rd 1 with a win, if as I expect I am playing with 17.

Hi gents, anyone else interested in having some more fun drafting? Supercoach draft league already has some FF#2 coaches in it, but need a few more. Code: 398745

First of all, may I apologise for not making the draftee induction to the high Fyfe. I take my role as sole member of the club very seriously, but unfortunately I have things on which I have tried, but cannot get out of (my wedding). So this will be brief. Also, I really cannot figure out that photo in CBHs review, but I have printed it out and its next to my bed so I am sure I will get it soon.

NOTORIOUS B.I.X DRAFT REVIEW 2016
By Recruitment Officer Brandon Matera

Pick 9: Brandon Matera
I am a gun. I will average 160 ppg this year or Bix will kidnap my family. I will be triple dual position by round 10. Expected ppg: 160.

Pick 27: Josh Bruce
In the off season, the Notorious BIX identified a definite lack of top knots at the club. Indeed, since Dyson’s unfortunate suspension, the hair standard at the club had dropped significantly. We feel like this has been addressed with this pick. Also, apparently he has dropped 5 kegs and is getting around like pharlap pre poisoning. He is also a member of the inaugural BIX squad, so knows where the bodies are buried. Expected ppg: 110. + good hair.

That hair

Pick 45: Aaron Mullett.
Another BIX failure, returning for a second chance. Coach BIX watched one highlight from one north NAB cup game and that happened to be a Mullett super goal and that was enough. Lock for 130 ppg running off half back flank.

Pick 63: Dylan Buckley
A NB side project, the NB World of Warcraft All Star team, had their plans for year 2016 thrown into disarray when GWS full forward Cam McArthy and trade target threw in the towel. Needing a nerd to fill the gap, the recruiting team identified Buckley as the next best gamer available. It is expected that his hefty training schedule will affect his output, but he is still expected to average a minimum of 128 ppg to maintain his contract.

Dylan Buckleys hard work off the track promises to pay dividends for the N.B.W.O.W.A.S this year.

Pick 81: Nathan Broad
Basically as this stage, the recruiting team were being coaxed back from the window ledge after Tippa was taken by Birch. As a result, another mediocre defender who won’t play was chosen – third in a row. Expected ppg: 95.

Pick 99: The Grim Reaper
Say no more. Cult figure, best since Salmon. Newly elected captain of the club.
Expected ppg: 200

Pick 116: Nick Kommer
Selected to help address the weaknesses discussed in the Josh Bruce Selection. Instantly shaved his head for charity and is now worthless to the club and should be ashamed. Expected ppg: 14

Picks 131, 132 133: James Sicily, CONOR McKenna and Robbie Tarrant
Basically, the club identified players that Eggs and No5 might want and targeted them. All are expected to average well into the 100s ppg range.

Best 18:
B: Mullett, Buckley, Broad
HB: Tarrant, Seedsman, Shane Biggs
C: D Mackay, J Kelly, Guthrie
HF: Kommer, CONOR, Bruce
FF: Matera, Sicily, T Lynch (The red one)
R: Grim Reaper ©, Matt Shaw, Tyson
Fringe players: Gunston, Gaff, Breust, Jaeger, I Smith, Loonyburger, J Griffen, T Varcoe, Hurn, Ibbotson, Lachie Henderson.

Writing that drastically reduced the time I have to write my Grooms speech.

Recruit James Sicily - everyone at the club already despise him.

Our league is now live on Ultimate Footy. Please note Free Agents will be unavailable until after Round 1. At this stage I haven’t been able to lock the players - so please hold yourself back from snapping up all the bargains you forgot to draft!

Classic Bix. Best of luck for the wedding.

Well that gives me reason to customize the fixture then!

Vintage Bix - prioritising his own wedding above a fictional fantasy football member event. If he’s not careful, his no. 1 ticket holder status will be at risk, despite his team’s luxurious hair

anyone else not like the new UI for UF?

I don’t care what it looks like. Just hope it works better than last year.

Yep… :fearful:

That said I was higher before I shifted off all my guys who aren’t going to play.
Was painful moving Stants and Jobe to the bench knowing I wouldn’t be able to play them all season.

Why do I have 2 empty spots on my list?

Why do I have 2 empty spots on my list?

The settings for the league allow for 35 players. This gives teams enough spaces to cover their suspended players - the maximum number held by one coach is 3 - and potentially 2 long term injury spots. Whilst not ideal to have empty spots it’s the easiest way of managing the players under our rules. Some coaches will currently have 5 empty spots.
