Finally some new rucks!

Although pretty annoying (for me personally) that they’ve seemingly drawn the line at Rory Lobb in the average hitouts per game stat. Peter Wright was next on the list! Could’ve used another ruck.

Not complaining about Ryan Lester getting C status however. He’s been a far better pickup off FAs than I could’ve ever hoped for, currently averaging 77 for the season.

Also if anyone needs midfield depth in the trade period let me know. Particularly anyone willing to give up defenders.

Very happy with this. Lobb is now able to give me extra ruck cover whilst playing Nank The Tank up forward.

Personally happy to get even. Ire flexibility into my squad. Pedersen is a no brainer given his current role, although he remains a short term fix. While Barrett getting for meats status is handy. Fingers crossed come later in the season he can fill a bench spot providing decent cover to both positions. It would be great if they unleashed him in the midfield to allow him to score somewhere like he does in the NEAFL.

11 of the 12 are legit changes. Deciding to tip Newnes over to back status off the back of those 3 games is hilarious though, he played wing in Round 7 and basically didn’t play in Round 9.

Interesting

Re Newnes, they use the earlier games as well. From your records was he playing mid from Rounds 1 to 6?

I’m not complaining as he is my player, and my belief was that he probably should have not lost it in the first place as I drafted him as CB. Whenever I watch Saints games (which is literally just to keep tabs on Newnes!) my recollection is that most of his touches are behind centre. Just quickly looking at stats, he is =25 in the league for R50 (including the game he was knocked out in Q1 on w/e). On what basis do you feel is he not legitimately a B?

My issue isnt positional changes (though thats always handy!). Its that Roughead, Lycett, Giles and Fitzpatrick have been injured/knocked out/not selected, lol.

Fair chance that i finally have a couple of those to choose from this week, though. So fingers crossed that the ruck donuts are a thing of the past.

Round 10 Thursday Free Agent Selection
Birch19 was successul in his bid to claim Jordan Cunico. He has dropped Todd Elton. As a result Birch19 is now on the bottom with regards to free restricted agent priority.

Scott Selwood what a tackling machine!

Also strange week for the Bulls with 26 players to select from. So weird seeing so many green ticks. I wont have the stat but this would easily be the most players I have ever had to choose from. Of the 6 missing I have:

-2 LTI listed players - Reece Conca and Josh Dunkley
-2 injured players - Dan Robinson and David Armitage
-2 players seemingly overlooked and out of thinking for their AFL team’s best 22 - Tom Nicholls and Ben Howlett

Happy days!

Big start by Selwood squared - 241 between them. @Stoops did very well with former Bull Polec but Menzel was off which is handy for the Bulls.

I’ve kept Lang since his draft year. Been a slow and very frustrating burn. Not getting too carried away but he at least got involved and worked hard defensively.

Another FA request burnt in the seemingly endless raffle to find a playing Ruck. I doubt Phillips makes the final team but I have to try.

BBFFL#2 Round 8 Review

51 Bewick sank to a new low for 2016 by only managing to score 1115. This was his lowest score since scoring 1105 in the 2015 Elimination Final. Overall this score ranked as his 15th lowest score.

Bargey set a new season high in scoring 1700 in his Round 8 victory over Silly Billy. This score ranked as his 4th highest BBFFL#2 score. It was his highest score since totalling 1741 in Round 11 2016 (his 2nd highest score). His overall record score remains his 2015 Grand Final winning score of 1780. This was the 3rd highest BBFFL#2 score for 2017 behind Smooth’s 1731 in Round 6 and Redbull’s 1726 in Round 3. Overall 1700 is the 9th highest BBFFL#2 score.

After 3 straight wins Birch19 was not able to make it 4 on the trot. Birch19 has only won 4 straight matches twice ever – from Rounds 8 to 11 in 2012 and his best ever winning streak of 5 straight from Round 3 to Round 7 in 2014.

Cafegerat scored his 3rd best total for the season by scoring 1286. This ranks as his 21st best overall score. His higher scores this year at 1422 scored in Round 1 and 1333 scored in Round 4. Overall his highest score remains at 1434 from Round 10 2014.

Come Back Hirdy scored his 3rd highest score for the season in Round 8 when he scored 1414. This score ranks behind the 1415 scored in Round 7 and his record ever score of 1625 scored in Round 3. The 1414 ranks 13th overall for Come Back Hirdy’s scores.

Don to Death set a new 2017 PB by scoring 1527. This was his 13th highest score and his best since scoring 1581 in Round 14 2014 – his 4th best ever score. A win over 51 Bewick meant Don to Death had won back to back matches for the first time in 2017.

Eggs’ win over Redbull made it 3 straight wins for the first time in 2017. His record winning streak remains at 6 wins from Round 13 to 18 in 2016.

Ivan’s loss to Stoops meant he has now lost 4 straight, which surpasses his previous longest losing streak of 3 from Rounds 1 to 3.

No. 5 scored his 3rd highest score for 2017 by scoring 1425. This was his 32nd highest overall BBFFL#2 score. This year his higher scores have been 1505 in Round 5 and 1468 in Round 7.

Redbull scored his 3rd lowest score for the season by only managing 1395 in his defeat to Eggs. This is only higher than his 1391 scored in Round 2 and 1392 scored in Round 1. Overall it was his 20th highest or 84th lowest score as a BBFFL#2 coach. The loss also meant his longest winning streak remains stuck at 5 – achieved twice – Round 12 to 16 in 2012 and Round 3 to 7 in 2017.

Saladin scored his 2nd highest score for 2016 in scoring 1419. This score was his 6th highest all time, behind his record score of 1490 scored in Round 5 2017.

Silly Billy scored a new season high by totalling 1304 in Round 8. This was higher than his previous season best of 1267 scored in Round 7. Overall this was his 20th highest score. His record score remains at 1561 scored in Round 3 2013.

Smooth returned to the winners list with his 2nd highest score for 2017. His score of 1693 is only behind the 1731 he scored in Round 6. Overall this was Smooth’s 5th highest score. His PB remains the 1816 he scored in Round 16 2015.

Stoops scored set a new low score for 2017 by scoring 1242. This was his 10th lowest overall score and his lowest since scoring his lowest ever score of 1063 in Round 2 2016.

The Melkman scored his 2nd highest score for 217. His score of 1389 is only behind the 1400 he scored in Round 7. Overall this was his 71st highest score, well behind his all time best of 1648 scored in Round 8 2012.

In scoring 1385 TrevorBix scored his 3rd highest score for the season. This score is behind his record ever score of 1536 scored in Round 2 and 1439 scored in Round 4. Overall his Round 8 score was his 22nd highest BBFFL#2 score.

Wezza has now scored 1400 plus for 7 straight weeks. This is still behind the 13 straight weeks he managed to do this during 2016 – from Round 9 up to and including the Preliminary Final.

Westozziebomber broke his duck for 2017 to end his record losing streak at 7. His score of 1391 was also his highest score for 2017 and best since scoring 1629 to win the 2016 BBFFL#2 premiership. Overall the 1391 ranks as his 59th highest score.

BBFFL2 Round 9 Review

51 Bewick scored his 2nd lowest score for 2017 in only managing to score 1124. The only score this is higher than was the 1115 he scored last week.

Bargey made it 6 straight wins with his victory over No. 5. This is Bargey’s most consecutive wins since winning 8 straight from Rounds 4 to 11 last season. Overall his longest winning streak remains at 11 from Round 4 to 14 in 2015.

Birch19 scored his 2nd lowest score for 2017 in only managing to score 1269 in Round 9. This only ranks above the 1218 scored in Round 3. Overall 1269 is his 33rd lowest (74th highest) score. His lowest overall score remains at 1081 scored in Round 15 2014.

Cafegerat scored his 2nd highest score for 2017. His score of 1357 is his 9th highest all time score, with his PB of 1434 coming in Round 10 2014. His best for 2017 remains the 1422 scored in Round 1. Unfortunately, his score in Round 9 was still not enough to bring up a win, meaning he has now lost 7 straight. This is the 4th time in 66 matches as a BBFFL#2 coach he has lost 7 on the trot.

Come Back Hirdy set a new personal best record score by totalling a huge 1684. Overall this is the 12th highest BBFFL#2 score. Only Smooth, Bargey and Redbull have scored higher. For 2017 this was the 5th highest score thus far. Come Back Hirdy’s score surpassed his previous best of 1625 scored in Round 3 this season. Prior to 2017, Come Back Hirdy’s highest score was 1523 scored in Round 5 2015.

Don to Death made it 3 straight wins and set a new highest score for 2017 in scoring 1604 in Round 9. This is his 3rd highest score in BBFFL#2 and his best since scoring his record score of 1657 back in the 2013 Semi Final. This was only the 3rd time in 114 matches he has scored 1600 or higher.

Eggs scored his 3rd highest score for season by tallying 1524 against 51 Bewick. This was his 12th highest overall score. His higher scores in 2017 are 1552 in Round 3 and 1542 in Round 6. The win also made it 4 straight wins.

Ivan scored his 2nd lowest score in Round 9 by only achieving a total of 1157. This is only higher than the 1150 he scored in Round 1. The loss to TrevorBix also means Ivan has lost 5 straight, his longest losing streak.

No. 5 scored his lowest score for the season in his defeat to Bargey. His total of 1295 is his lowest score since scoring 1284 in Round 10 2016. Overall this was his 26th lowest score – with his all-time low of 1097 coming in Round 1 2015.

Redbull scored his 2nd highest BBFFL#2 score, which is also his 2nd highest score for 2017. The 1677 only ranks behind the 1726 scored in Round 3. This score ranks 16th overall on the BBFFL#2 record score leader board.

Saladin scored his 3rd highest total for 2017. His score of 1410 was 10th best ever score. His scores of 1490 in round 5 and 1419 in Round 8 are his only higher scores in 2017. Also this is the first time he has scored 1400 plus scores back to back since he managed it for 3 straight weeks from Round 18 to the Elimination Final in 2014.

Silly Billy scored 1543 in his narrow loss to Smooth in Round 9. This was his second highest overall score, behind his best of 1561 scored in Round 3 2013. It also surpassed his previous best for 2017 of 1304 scored in Round 8. This is the 4th highest losing score ever in BBFFL#2. The highest losing score of 1610 was achieved by The Melkman as he lost to Smooth’s 1579 in the 2015 Qualifying Final, while Wezza scored 1579 to lose to Stoops in the 2015 Semi and Bargey lost with a score of 1546 against The Melkman in Round 15 2015. Therefore it can be concluded that this is the highest ever losing score by a winless team.

Smooth made it back to back scores of 1600 plus for the 2nd time in 2017. He also achieved this feat in Rounds 3 and 4. His most consecutive 1600 plus scores in row is 3 and came from Rounds 11 to 13 in 2016.

Stoops made it back to back wins for the first time in 2017 by knocking over Westozziebomber. This was his first consecutive wins since Rounds 9 to 13 in 2016.

Despite scoring his 3rd highest score for 2017, The Melkman was unable to make it back to back wins. His score of 1375 only ranks behind the 1400 scored in Round 7 and 1389 scored in Round 8. Overall this round’s score was his 75th highest BBFFL#2 score.

TrevorBix returned to the winners list with his victory over Ivan. For the 2nd time in 2017 he has scored above 1300 two weeks running. His best streak of 1300 plus scores is 7 from Round 14 to the Elimination Final in 2016.

Wezza suffered back to back losses for the first time in 2017. His score of 1391 was also his second lowest total for 2017, only ahead of the 1318 he scored in Round 1. Overall this was his 59th highest or 53rd lowest score. His lowest score remains at 1075 scored in Round 10 2013.

Westozziebomber was unable to make it back to back wins. His score of 1258 was his lowest score since scoring 1221 in Round 5. Overall it was it 99th best or 17th lowest score.

Well of course they look at other games, but by doling out positions in 3 games increments, logically you’re saying a couple of things by deciding to give out positions in one period but not the other - we were waiting for more data and that the data in this 3 game period, at worst, was consistent with others and as they often toss around the belief that the position won’t change.

I don’t do stats on each team, each week - he did legitimately play back in Round 4, Round 5 however he was back to his wing role (and had the 3rd highest appearances in their 5 starting mids behind Ross and Steven for that game).

I’ve verified Inside Football’s Player Ratings numerous times as an excellent source of where someone is playing if they name an opponent or exact role (for example Bernie Vince didn’t play back every week last year, the times they mentioned he did I could verify it on the game footage), here is what they specifically say about Newnes’s role/opponent in the rounds I didn’t do stats for:

2 WCE Lost control of Gaff. Had 20 touches but Gaff had 36 on the wing. 5
3 Bris Had 23 touches and six marks, but wasn’t overly noticeable on a wing and at half back. 6
6 Haw Opened up on wing opposed to Smith. Won truckloads of ball and used it well mostly. Good contribution. 7
8 Carl Continues to get the job. Controlled his wing and provided enormous run. Great by foot. 8

If you’re being generous and construe that “opened up on wing” may not indicate his role over the entire game, that still leaves 3 out of his last 5 games as a wing, with one possible wing game and a very early injury.

UF has always had an issue with wingers as they place high importance on heat maps and possession percentage by quadrant - the issue that doesn’t address is whilst they are mids, they, unlike the inside guys, don’t have the same ability to get touches from bounces, so the data is likely either going to screw forward or back.

On the basis he has legitimately lined up on a wing for the overwhelmingly vast majority of his games since 2015, but unlike Brandon Ellis there hasn’t been any consistent week to week shift to playing as a back this season. Rebound 50s are misleading as a stat to judge whether someone is playing as a back - Olly Florent had the equal 2nd most R50s in a NEAFL game last weekend - played midfield. Brandon Ellis traditionally ranked fairly highly for R50s whilst playing wing as he took the kickouts, Zach Merrett currently has 1 less R50 than Newnes.

Anyway a genuine bonus for you and hopefully you can make good use of him in his new spot.

Poor effort by me this week, I could have avoided two donuts. I’m not sure what happens, were seeding at the moment and I’m doing 14 hour days. That’s gonna be my excuse anyway. I apologise, il pick it up next week

So Brodie finally debuts, 3 tackles in his first quarter is encouraging, start finding the footy a bit more now please

Fairly poor game from Zach but STILL somehow breaks the tonne.

I got lucky with Roughead being a late in.
