Ben Duscher has been with the club for many years and has consistently surpassed many of the Essendon listed players that have been his team-mates and have come and gone. What does he lack to make it at the AFL level? Are we making a mistake not drafting him?

At his age you need 2 things: 2 dominant seasons in close proximity and a point of difference. Duscher has never dominated games consistently to scream pick me and he doesn't have any stand-out quality, or point of difference.
In comparison, Dwyer had a dominant season as a 24yr old, broke his leg the year after and didn't play much then dominated again as a 26 yr old to get drafted. Whilst Dwyer's skills particularly by foot can by shaky, he has pace.

We have some good youth coming through and to me Duscher has the combination of age and no stand out feature. Just an accumulator who can come in and not embarrass himself in a **** to average side. I think that's what Dunlop was getting at.
