Just watched the replay. Every small Saints player immediately looks at umpire expectently when tackled. Such a blight on the game.

Flop.

Make puppy dog eyes at umpire

Fark Essendon
Gets to the not-paid Wright mark at the start of the third quarter… yes, it was obviously a mark. Why was it not paid?
Because this is how he umpires!
Bizarre that neither of the other field umps over-rode his lack of a decision, though.
The commentary had no such excuse, apart from being a conga line of suckholes.
I thought we got some free kicks early that were very soft also.
May not have had prior, in which case as long as he made a genuine attempt it’s not htb.
You mean putting the ball over his shoulder with a free hand and letting go of it? That is a genuine attempt? At what? A handbsll or a kick?
Sorry, as long as the umpire thought he made a genuine attempt.
We did. There were some howlers for both sides.
Mind you, that same ump may not have paid the mark even if he had bothered to watch.
Apparently he thought this was a shepherd by the Saint.
Marks in the clear:
Ump #8 forgets to blow his whistle, so a Saint runs in and tackles Kelly 2m over the mark position. All good.
Redman lucky to get away with headbutting and htm.
Drop the knees, drop the knees!!!
Pretty sure he put his whistle up to his mouth…nothing…then called play on.
There was also the other one where the ball was well over the line, and then they got a dubious free for a tackle in the back. I think it was in their F50
I’m less harsh on this blind-sided boundary ump guessing and getting it wrong.
Juggling of ball is finished by this point.
Those two 50s were incredibly harsh. Not sure how guelfi is supposed to just disappear when starting from the protective zone and ham was given no time to stop, brace and back out.
Guelfi was actively trying to get out of the protected space, and it was his opposite number who dragged him there in the first place! Worst 50 ever.
Yet saints players were given 5 warnings to move back off the mark multiple times
I was surprised that Reddog didn’t get a free paid against him for obviously hanging onto the sainter as he was falling over.
There was one other free kick which was paid against us and while it was fair, it was the first time I have seen it paid in years. How often do you see a player hand off a ball in a pack or a team mate grabs a ball off someone? It is technically a throw and last night one was paid against us and then about 4 or 5 were ignored for the Saints. Oh well, like Carey said when North had about 15 free kicks to our zero or one in a game a few years ago; “just because they aren’t paying them to Essendon, it doesn’t mean that it is not a free kick”.
