Blatant cheating by umpires - “having a ‘mare tonight” (Part 1)

My theory is the afl want a national finals series
Ideally each state represented

Maybe the umpires were on notice for favouring Eddie’s team, maybe Worsfolds chat not only helped us but also Farked the Pies.

Her first game was the Ess v WC game last year and she was awesome gave us a free ride all day, from memory. Supported Essendon as a kid perhaps???

Lol, Free kicks for Swans 9, against 20 (North)

Sadly a lost cause as she’s a scum supporter from memory.

Hardly a free ride. It was about the first time WC ever lost a free kick count, and it was only by 3…Essendon 18 / WC 15.
No, we earned the win in Melbourne, and we pumped em big time!

If WC lost the free kick count, we must have got a free ride.

I agree. I reckon They got every dodgy chance, whereas we got only the most obvious ones.

Eddie McGuire on Triple M having a go at the umpiring lately. Didn’t see all the game yesterday but did Collingwood not get the rub of the green yesterday?

Lol. For the first time for ever Collingwood lost the freekick count 24 to 28.

l reckon the chumpires were pretty good in tat game, mostly unobtrusive, they had no influence on the result. Pies beaten by a team with greater desperation on the day. Same can be said for the Swans / Roos game. Eddie has got nothing to bleat about, especially after last week. No doubt he didn’t mention how the free kick count favoured the Pies then. He is just being an apologist, deflecting attention.

Swans supporters were complaining about umpires against North, Reckon nearly cost them the game, except for Ronke Birlliance and Aliir last qtr.

He said the main issues were

  • 50’s not being paid after someone gets hit when taking a mark.
  • the protected zone.
  • the umpires yelling out advantage - he thinks it should be a swift motion with the umpire only getting involved once they realise that there isn’t an advantage.

Nothing about HTB and the “non calls” leading to dangerous tackles etc.

They pat 1 or 2 of these a game. If the chumpires paid them all, there would be a dozen or so per game. They are reluctant to do so, as it 50m is such a huge penalty, and often leads to goals being kicked. Then again after having a dozen paid in a game, coaches and players would soon adjust and stop the hits after marks. l have always believed that a 30m penalty was fairer, and the the wold be more willing to pay that, than give a 50m.

Funnily enough, McGuire blamed Sheedy for it being 50 metres and not the original 15 metres.

Apparently Sheedy used to tell players to belt whoever took the mark because he was willing to take the 15 metre penalty in order to take a shot at the opposition. So they changed it to 50?

Funnily enough, that is correct.

Just did some quick research.

Essendon has only won the free kick count 4 times in 2018 and sits at 17th on the Free Kick Differential Ladder.

Who’s the lucky team at 18th? Richmond?

GWS
We are 16th
Richmond 17th…that can’t be right?
Collingblow leads the ladder so Ed can shut his neck!
