I wish I could be as cool as Rapha. Make a blue jersey and act like it's the second coming...

http://pages.rapha.cc/stories/rapha-core

On Wednesday you can get a jersey in that cool Rapha plain blue for $35 from Aldi, and it’s Merino.

90km ride tomorrow

#2363

So … it was a nightmare to setup, but I’m loving having a power meter.

Did my first FTP test yesterday and it’s the first solo ride I’ve ever done where I’ve pushed myself without giving up, just because there’s a number to look at. Doesn’t matter about wind, gradient, weather, heart rate, how you feel … just keep an eye on that number and hold it. It’s awesome.

Now to make that number higher…

90km ride tomorrow

I got passed by a 60-70 year old women on bike leg at 70km mark in 1/2 ironman.
ended up doing 90km in 3hrs:10min was hoping for 3 hours and 30kmhr average so missed that.
I stuffed up my nutrition. Left gels in running shoes and only had 1 bottle Gatorade & 1 bottle water on ride.
at 45km mark swapped out Gatorade bottle for another bottle, but I got a water. so that left me with 1.5 wate bottles next 45km and bit flat for the run
went through 30kms at 58mins & 60kms at 2:01 on the bike
just when I was getting used to using the aero bars, one of them came loose. was probably on aero <10% drops 60% hoods 30%.
Managed to do half marathon under 2 hours so that was a pass, but not eating anything on bike cost me a better time in run as needed to walk all aid stations and load up on coke.
Need to do more cycling if attempt it again next year.

Bonus won a bottle of wine as a spot prize

  • won a wet suit from Dare2tri worth $600 (another spot prize).

They’ve been around for awhile. Seems like they’re looking for some seed money…

Anyway, did a big ride on Sunday around Eildon.

Awesome views, good climbs, gravel sectors.
