I recommend a full suit of steel armour - mail hauberk and coif and chausses, cuirass and tassets, vambrace and greaves and sabatons and pauldrons and gorget and bevor and besagews, articulated gauntlets, a nice thick gambeson, and a hundsgugel bascinet (camail optional). Plus sword, shield and dagger. Great times. Just don't fall overboard.
