At the ground it was so blatantly obvious that we have massive issues with how we set up the ground.
Yes the players are young and poorly skilled. Yes they need to work harder, much harder in fact, but again thatās on the coach for consistently rewarding guys like Archie Perkins with games over less talented blokes like Guelfi who will undoubtedly provide more effort and pressure.
Just on that, there is no argument ever that Guelfi shouldnāt have played next to Huss tonight. You canāt pick one out of shape small forward then complain that the ball kept bouncing out of our 50. Utter madness.
Despite the lack of defensive pressure, the way our forwards set up across the entire ground is just comically bad. They never leave room for one another, never try to create space for each other and literally only give our kickers one option - to kick it long to a contest.
We get the ball and slow the game down immediately, and the amount of times tonight we moved the ball from the centre of the ground onto the wings was making me furious. These are all examples of either poor coaching instruction or lack of.
I hate farking losing but itās not even as if we can watch our games and take solace in the fact we are trying to attack teams, move the ball through the middle and run in waves.
Richmond might be ā ā ā ā ā ā ā than us (might not be too) but itās very very clear they are being told to play this way, and they attempt it each week.
I like Brad as a bloke and an even as a speaker, but he absolutely cannot coach. It is so glaringly obvious.
Keep him as head of the football department if the club loves him so much, but we desperately need an entire set of fresh eyes from head coach to every assistant, as soon as possible.
And please no Solomon.

My take on why this club is stuffed. Brad needs to go or be the sacrificial lamb like Tony shaw and develop for the next premiership.
Its the same usual senior players, who capitulate and start stat chasing when the going gets tough.
Midfield / Ruck
Blaki- tries his guts out was just small. Better chb.
Merrett - 32 possessions , after 5 best and fairests this bloke still cant drop his eyes. He is one the worst kicks inside 50. Loves the cheap outside give it to me posession. Does not defend in the slightest. He doesnt hurt teams . Tom.mitchell mark 2.
Parish - My God does he even know how to be accountable for an opponent. Has always been beaten the opposite way. Like merrett king of the bomb in.
Roberts - leave him in the backline .
Durham.and Caldwell - hard nuts but cant do it alone .
Same situation for the past 10 years , Merrett and Parish have always been selfish. They dint even set up on the right side of the stoppage .
Wings are a mess .
Defence
Redman - goes missing
McGrath- put him back in the middle , Nguyen can take his spot .
McKay was ok
Reid - give him time ,its often forgotten he was a better forward at times as a junior. He is tall enough to be a ruck option with the new rules.
Forwards
Caddy - could be anything but isnāt. To.me he should be a hird type CHF. He is quick has a huge tank, played some midfield. Im thinking up the ground on ball could be his go long term.
Gerreyn- this kid was looking like a beast forward. Not fit but had it. What doesBrad do send him down back. He was a better long term full forward option.
May - play him out of the square nowhere else. Has mongrel let him smash packs
2mp - square or ruck. In his defence he leads and we kick it on top of his head.
Langford- he needs to go back to the backline . One good year or play him half forward.
Perkins - papers stamped stay in the Twos with Gresham .
Long term
Sharp and Kondo picked the game up quickly . Let them loose .
Midfield has to change , use kako through there , even Caddy why not duursma
Parish , Merrett never again in same midfield. Both could play half forward and we would be better for it.
As for game plan, until the personell change , the dead wood players doing the same thing and its senior players Merrett, PARISH ,LANGERS , WRIGHT, REDMAN, MC GRATH we are stuffed.
The others need to push them.out. At least Sheedy and Hird werenāt afraid to throw the magnets around.
Scott has no chance unless he makes hard calls. He hasnāt got the balls to.

Iām normally pretty pro Scott, but that was probably the worst coaching performance I can remember at Essendon.
Forward mix clearly wrong with not enough defensive pressure as it was clearly ā ā ā ā ā ā ā wrong in the last practice match.
Arguably every single defender had the wrong matchup. Absolutely tearing my hair out that the two BIG forwards in Lewis and Chol arenāt obviously ā ā ā ā ā ā ā opposed to our two 200cm defenders. In a structure where they are going to rotate Reeves through there Reid taking Gunston to start isnāt even a ā ā ā ā ā ā ā option. This culminated with starting quarter 2 with Reid on Connor MacDonald. Then the smalls are all over the shop too. Why the ā ā ā ā is McGrath on kick-ins? If Johnson is in the team he has to be the defensive distributor. Against Hawthorn, McGrath and Nguyen should have very clear defensive roles on Moore and Watson and not leave their sides. One matchup the whole night instead of this insane zone defense they seemed insistent in trying to run with a back 7 which had four players sub 20 games. This was never going to work as they havenāt played together before. Again this should be ā ā ā ā ā ā ā OBVIOUS.
I can forgive a little bit of the defensive transition stuff on inexperience but for the centre bounce groupā¦. If you want to play Roberts as a midfielder, then he or Sharp should be at every ā ā ā ā ā ā ā CBA as the defensive sweeper. The trio of any three of Parish, Caldwell, Merrett and Durham DOES NOT WORK. The defensive awareness of that quartet is non existent. Iāve no idea how Scott thought magically the same issue we had when they were last all fit would magically resolve itself in 2026.
So unbelievably disappointed in the preparedness for tonight. Intensity is one thing, but we just set the players up for failure tonight.

Just watched Scottās post game media conference.
I wasnāt surprised or greatly disappointed with the game result, but listening to Scott for 5 minutes was depressing.
He is a fraud.

Lost in the jungle again so missed the game. Thank you for the updates on here. Love the dons and Blitz community s my go to for news on the once mighty team. Brad has to go. Came in to build defense. It has become so much worse under his tenure. Who on earth (apart from Brad) picks that forward line in the modern day rebound game. Please leave immediately Brad, you have no idea

Looking forward to the club farking up another coach appointment and then in 3 years we will be sitting here saying the same things we said about Brad about the new coach lols
The club doesnāt have a clue what a good coach is the AFL need to intervene. They paid Paul Roos a bucket load to go and coach Melbourne also helped them get Peter Jackson
Makes you wonder exactly wtf Cam Roberts is doing as our forward line coach.
Surely, surely you had to have a better plan for our forward pressure than just hope

It is obvious that it is everyone elseās fault. It cannot be the plantās.
Hopefully, the Board will extend his contract again to end speculation about his future.
