Massive list changes??? We took 4 ND picks in 2008 & 4 again in 2009. We did not make any massive changes to the list at all. What Knights did do is try to back in the younger players he’d worked with over a couple of the ageing stars, many of which were in decline anyway. There’s no way to know what Dima might have done differently but Knights did not start a rebuild of the list.
I guess it depends on the meaning of the word massive in this context. If by massive you mean ‘quantity’ then no. If by massive you mean ‘impactful’, then sure, I’ll stand by that.
Cutting 10 fringe guys who never played isn’t massive to me. Pushing out premiership players, a couple who were some of the greatest players the club had ever seen, is a massive shift.
Did he rebuild the list? No. Did he rebuild the starting 22? Yes.
And to be clear, this is not some endorsement of Knights. At all. Just saying, he didn’t just keep the ball rolling, he went for big change (and failed).
our turnover numbers are well down on last year too. we were ranked 9th with 66.4, just above afl average and now we’re second with 61
we don’t really have a big enough sample size yet to draw any conclusions and obviously it’s only April…
our defensive lost 1v1 % has improved a bit too. we’re now just below average as opposed to complete ■■■■■. OUr pressure numbers aren’t as exciting as i’d hoped though, though probably skewed by the bye week game vs adelaide.
It doesn’t really matter. We had enough picks from 2006-2010 to build a really good list but we we left guys like Boak, Selwood, Reiwoldt, Dangerfield, Rioli, Goldstein, etc on the board.
Nobody can look at our knights and say he didn’t at least try to improve our list and build for the future. He tried to do the right thing, he just was a rubbish coach
He pretty much pushed out/ retired
McPhee
Peverill
Lloyd
Lucas
JJ
If Scott was coaching those players, he 100% would have them all in the team

our knights
Richmond can have him, I don’t want him to be ours.
The harsh reality
Does Brad know about Launch Pad and hot spot?
Depends if he watched 360 tonight
Horse was impressive on 360, walking through a few Pies clips outling i50 plays etc. Seems the break from the pressure cooker of Swans boss for so long now has him relaxed and on form. No wonder his players and Swans fans love him still.
Would he go back into a coaching challenge before a media gig might interest him? Maybe Tassie is a chance, even Dees post Goodwin. Dunno …
And whilst unsure Brad takes us building to the promised land one day (and as one mad old Bomber fan I do hope he does), if it all goes wrong and Horse was available and willing to take us on, I’d have zero problem with that.
Comfortably the best aspect of Knights’ coaching was the way he handled and developed the younger brigade. Not a maestro by any measure, but he did well to bring in and develop Zaka, Hurley, Jobe, Hooker and a few others who would form the core of the side for the next saga-riddled decade. It wasn’t perfect, and I feel he didn’t do well developing Myers, who was his first draft pick.
His match day acumen and general game-plan were catastrophic however, and he deservedly lost his job with us after a disastrous 2010 season.
Prior on Waterman Brad? Really? Sack yourself.
Get rid of him already!!!
No idea
Being out coached by a first year coach
Giving up 5 goals in the first qtr to the worst team in the comp
Their best forward not being matched up by our best defender
Prior really Prior whom shouldn’t even be in the team to begin with, then puts a broken McKay on a player who kicked 3 goals now 4 goals
He has absolutely no idea, and I’m going to tell you the players aren’t playing for him, they aren’t they don’t respect him…
“Development year”
