I think Brad is going all out to win games, he is just too stupid to not select the right match ups to give the team the best chance at a win
You don’t select guys like Shiel and Setterfield if it’s a development year
You don’t keep on selecting SEH as sub if you are all about development
I don’t care if we limp over the line against west coast while giving the kids opportunities. But want I can’t stand is limping over the line playing the senior guys who won’t be here much longer.
We need to get continuity into the squad and have these guys playing 2-3 years together

How you can have a 3 on 1 on the goaline, WC win a free kick and roll down the ground and score a goal without an essendon player near their opponent throughout the play.

how is defensive setup, zoning, gameplan all of it still so trash 3 years in ?

i’ve seen better defending by blind, dear monks, with no arms or legs, what the actual ■■■■ do they do/teach with regard to defending ? surely it can not be to just allow multiple opposition players to just do whatever the ■■■■ they want, and hope they ■■■■ it up and turn it over.
I have more faith in this guy being able to defend, moreso than 3/4’s of our ■■■■■■■ side.

Shiel or Setterfield over Tsatas is the one I am referring too (unless the club doesn’t rate Tsatas and looks to move him at the end of the year).

I don’t know for certain, but I think the contract extension and the clear out of older players at the end of last year seems more like what you’d do if you were trying to have a development year. And I don’t know enough about how he thinks to know if he prefers players to fight their way through a tough matchup for a period of time.
It seems to me that everyone here wants us to develop, and win all our games like fully developed champions.
Also, Buckley had publicly said he wouldn’t take the job, if offered, as it was too politically charged, and there was too much to fix.
We are actually lucky to even get Brad to coach us. He could have easly told Essendon no thanks I’m happy with my job at the AFL

I watched Gold Coast and Giants built from scratch.
One team played all youngsters, and hasn’t been competitive until this season.
The other team had a few experienced players amongst the youngsters, and those youngsters developed much more quickly.
It seems to me, that’s the development standard. Youngsters in amongst decent older players.

Nino is right. Brad didn’t have to accept that one year extension, but we are lucky he did
