I hope not. Besides Welsh said there would be a process and anyone could apply.
You could chose more than one option and vote for both like I did.
They weren’t even told by the club. Merrett was told by someone in a cafe. Others found out by twitter etc
Solly Tanking … stanking. Smell the stank from the airport. We should relocate out to Werribee
Maybe those guys were on board with the semi rebuild Scott et al had started as of last year. Especially as they’d been put in leadership positions partly because of it.
It’s entirely possible the playing list has more idea about where the club’s actually at than Welsh.
it’s a nothing article, a couple of unnamed past players complaining that they weren’t allowed into the rooms after games
This is going to hurt to say but … I’m with Scott on this one.
Essendon greats have revealed they felt “locked out” of the club and “frozen” from chances to help the playing group during Brad Scott’s rein as coach.
Frustrated former Bombers stars, including premiership players, have told the Herald Sun they felt like outsiders at their own club during [Scott’s three years ]as Essendon coach.
It comes amid a new push by Essendon powerbrokers to mend bridges between past players and the success starved current club.
One Essendon legend said past players who loved the club were stung by an apparent culture of yesterday’s heroes being ostracised under Scott’s watch, including a belief they were not to enter club rooms after matches.
“Brad wouldn’t bloody have us in the rooms,” he said.
“He just kept his tight-knit crew and operated in his way.
“In all the time that he had as coach I don’t reckon I went into the rooms once.” Another Bombers star from the late 1990s and early 2000s said: “we were frozen out.
“He wanted things his way and had a job to do but we were never made to feel welcome around the place.”
In a sharp turn of events, interim Essendon coach [Dean Solomon ] has invited past players to the Bombers’ MCG clash with Carlton on Sunday night.
Members of the club’s 2000 premiership – the last red and black squad to taste grand final glory – and others from the 1980s and 90s are expected in the rooms after the clash.
Another Dons great said: “Brad didn’t want us anywhere near the joint.”
im ready to hate brad as much as the next person.
but i wish these ‘legends’ would put their names out there
This is exactly what Scott was accused of when coaching North Melbourne.
Ask David king and Corey McKernan.
This year it has been. Previous years has been good.
Doesnt help Scott played him out of his best position
we might win if that’s the case.
Many of the same complaints from past north players about when he was there.
yep the old norf players couldnt stand brad. kingy, mckernan..mckernan has been quite vocal about how brad treated them and moved on the champions of the club
Odds are it was Barnsey
The bloke is not coach anymore
There past players need to stop sooking and move on
