Brad Scott - time for probing the probematic spelling (Part 2)

Is it maybe becuase the the youngsters that Melbourne bring in performed at vfl level?

No one in the v is worthy of a call up would say Roberts,Caddy thats about it

Why do you think Geelongs youngers players are good when they come in? thats becuase they spend 2-3 years in the vfl.

Everyone is so obsessed with this number of debutants ā€˜oh my god Melbourne’s had 3 debutants so far this year’

But I bet those 3 debutants would easily cover whatever we have in the VFL, people want to gift J Davey games but he’s barely ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā–  played the game the last 2 years

Two of them haven’t played any VFL.
Tholstrup has put up similar numbers to Roberts.

So Roberts the only one worthy of call up

It’s more some players aren’t worthy of retaining their spot

Tholstrup is going into a side which has won four on the hop, including one against a team that completely dismantled us.

I don’t think you can extrapolate performance → selection merit from Melbourne to Essendon.

We bring in all these younger players, they dont perform or show glimpses then what?

Blitz will quickly want them dropped

I don’t remember reading any calls on here for him to be sacked. People are questioning the job he’s doing, and rightly so, because he’s doing a pretty sucky job if you look at the on-field evidence.

And your blind faith in Scott, when you endlessly ā– ā– ā– ā–  and moan about everything else, is strange to say the least.

We bring them in and they do perform, even sporadically, there might be some optimism on here that we can start to build around something.

Its not blind faith im willing to give the bloke a chance

Like Eddie said Brad is 25 games into his Essendon coaching career everyone needs to settle.

If they come in and peform then great but not holding my breath.

There’s a decent argument that says the young players would develop faster in our seniors team given the poor VFL program. It’s probably true. But this also possibly compromises the success of the seniors by playing young players before they’re ideally ready to debut. I’d argue Caddy could fit this type, Roberts too.

But saying that, nothing wrong with at least looking at them in the seniors and seeing how they go. But be mindful of expectations. Caddy isn’t Coleman…… Yet!

Happy to forgo the absolute best result of winning a single elimination final this year if it means we find some guys who could help deliver a flag.

Winning a single final shouldn’t be seen as success, either.

Do you hold your breath that Kelly will save this club?

No but him right now is the best we got

I agree…

I think he wanted job around time Rutten got the promotion without an interview.

This time with Barham led process, Cara didn’t have a chance to be in process because our criteria was experienced coach.

Compare the pair…

Rutten’s last 11 games as EFC coach:
5 wins, 6 losses (one on a kick after the siren)
Ave points for: 86.5
Ave points against: 92.6
Ave losing margin: 43.4

Brad Scott’s last 11 games as EFC coach:
4 wins, 7 losses
Ave points for: 67.3
Ave points against: 101.5
Ave losing margin: 59.3

Tend to agree with you. B.Scott is not perfect, don’t like some of his game style and team selections. I do think he is a good person to oversee a rebuild, at this stage it seems from a far that he is turning over staff and externally talk about behaviours and lifting professionalism seem positive. Yes I know it’s all talk but the players seem to be buying in. The reality is those players don’t have the talent to see any significant uplift, we also have injuries to some of those young players we need to get games into. Until we start recruiting elite talent it’s going to be more of the same. I think B.Scott is doing ok with the ā– ā– ā– ā–  sandwich he has been given.
