I certainly think there are some issues with Scott and his coaching , but there’s a hell of a lot of ignoring of actual facts going on. And not just yesterday’s comments about the umps.
In his time at North, he supposedly played favourites, stuck with senior players and refused to play youth. But he also cops the rounds of the kitchen for prematurely pensioning off senior players like Harvey, Dal Santo etc and “ruining the soul of the club” . So…which is it? He also offered to resign when he put it to the Board that the club still needed to rebuild to become a force again and the Board didn’t like the idea of another rebuild or the timeline he suggested.
And this broader idea that he’s only playing kids this year because of injury is also untrue. As I posted earlier, from Round 1 onwards he was debuting kids and we’ve been younger and less experienced than the opposition in all bar three matches this year. And those figures are swayed further by the injuries to Draper and Bryan, because Goldstein was meant to be playing VFL and coaching this year. Likewise, Lav.
And I’ll also point out that all the ■■■■■■■■ and moaning about our lack of disposal skills ( warranted) needs to be factored into the onfield results when trying to decipher the notion of game plans and styles. If you’ve been whining about the incompetence of Dodoro for years, then you should probably allow a margin of circumspection on what is happening right now. And let’s not even spare a thought for the shambles that is our injury list or the treatment of…
The defining period for Scott , imo, will be his choices if/when/ever we actually get to choose from a full list. And for Scott / Rosa / Vosso, it will be list management decisions at end of year. Because the kids have pretty much ALL shown something in the absence of supposed key figures. If we turn away from these kids, and refuse to move on some other more experienced players, then we can truly lambast the current heirarchy.
