Brad Scott - yeah, whatever (Part 4)

Still employed?

Who gives a fark? He has no influence over this decrepit shithole of a football club and all he’s going to offer is politically correct lip service.

Was just puting it out there for people who are intrested

Totally agree. If we have to sit through yet another ANZAC Day loss (more than probable) after a winless start to the season, the pressure on Scott and the club will be extreme.

Sums up my perspective exactly too.

And he will most certainly have earned every bit of that pressure and scrutiny…

For 3 years the saga was absolute torture, for those emotionally invested in the club.

It’s not a stretch to suggest the past 3 under Scott has rivalled, then exceeded the trauma of those years, albeit in different ways.

There is zero nourishment, hope for jaded supporters following this team, nothing but depressing sameness year on year.

Each time there’s a reset, supporters are asked to be patient. This purgatory of patience, combined with poor on field results, eats away at a persons mental health.

Yes, money and resources have been poured into the program. Players not taking this club forward are moved on.

But, the biggest concern right now is the coach considering the failing of his teams to see out seasons. Last year was unforgivable given the health of the list. For 3 years their ladder % has been bottom 6. Can’t even get a basic fundamental right after 2 completed season ā€˜cause their start to this season was woeful defensively, even before injuries set in.

Brad Scott’s tenure being worse than when the club administered an experimental off-site ā€œillegalā€ supplement program without informing the players of its risks and placing their health in jeopardy, resulting in a mass exodus of players, a work safe investigation and a drawn out court case and an international investigation, has got to be one of the stupidest hyperbolic takes that’s ever been said on Blitz.

I’ve supported the club since 1967. This is worse than any other time, including 2016. At least then we knew we’d have players (if not all) back and we had something resembling a game plan. And blokes bonded by a year out of the game. Not sure we’ve got anything now. Zac must feel very alone.

The past few years have been frustrating for sure but honestly the Worsfold years were worse; That was a a list in more dire straits with a much older age profile that the club intended to be ā€œcompetingā€ with. The Knights era a close rival too

For me, one of the most disappointing aspects has been the excuses thrown around to justify the team’s poor performance under Scott.

In 2023, it was all about getting Brad’s feet under the desk and him figuring out which players would take us forward.

Last year, we sat through an embarrassing slide down the ladder blamed on a lack of fitness and fatigue, while 2025 will no doubt go down as the ā€œinjury-ravagedā€ year.

What’s he going to say if we finally get a clear run at it in 2026 or 2027 – and still fail to achieve a finals win?

I’ve been super critical of the club this year but the coach is copping a lot of unfair ā– ā– ā– ā–  for many aspects outside of his control.

12 debutants this year … after reading for a long time he’d ā€œneverā€ do that.

Making statements at selection (Perkins, Guelfi, Gresham etc) … after reading for a long time he’d ā€œneverā€ do that.

Every press conference has addressed the position the club is in and despite not saying the word ā€œrebuildā€ (probably for membership and attendance purposes), that’s exactly what it is.

An injury toll rarely seen at AFL level. His fault? Really?

Criticisms on the game plan etc? Granted. But his hands have been tied for a large chunk of the season.

Next year will be fascinating. Don’t expect miracles.

The only reason there has been a record number of debutants is because there has been a record number of injuries. Brad has demonstrated in his first two years reluctance to blooding young player as well as changing failed roles such as Kelly and Jones on a wing for example.

Every press conference is politically correct lip service - he offers no real insight at all. To be fair, this is trained and not exclusive to Brad. All coaches and players are in the same boat.

I’ve been critical of him and would agree with this. It doesn’t change my opinion that he’s had long enough to show some form of improvement in a variety of ways that are within his control, and frankly, I just don’t see it.

2026 is farked already due to the 12 month injuries most likely another bottom 5 finish Brad gets another pass next season.

2027 is when the pressure should be on him imo.

Agree.

It’s farking groundhog day with our coaches.

James Hird would probably disagree with that.

Was it Richmond in the 90’s and 2000’s that kept changing coaches every few years?
