Brad Scott - yeah, whatever (Part 4)

I can kinda see what he means did look like were applying pressure but it wasn’t close in and tight enough Dogs still had space to get it on the outside with hand ball

Also them easily breaking our tackles didn’t help

Kind of shows the stat for pressure and pressure acts is crap because there is a huge difference between Good pressure numbers and actual good pressure

If I recall correctly, I believe there are different types of pressure metrics. Us plebeians just don’t see them.

From memory it was something like physical pressure (lunging and disrupting a possession), and implied pressure (chasing an opponent)

Reports that are made up of not, this would be raising questions about his performance too all at Essendon inc Scott

A successful coach doesn’t get this kind of attention or anything made up, it’s not even about Hird it’s all about Scott and his coaching.

He keeps mentioning the board and members who are great because they are the ones backing him in, without them he doesn’t have the protection and becomes very exposed.

This is the kind of heat/attention Scott needed to make improvements or you aren’t making it to 2027, at this stage he certainly isn’t going past 2027.

Boys club, it’s rife

It’s pretty hard.

The coach has to back our players or he loses them.

But he also clearly needs to update the list.

Then you could I guess look at how we are playing off his coaching.

I think if the players don’t respond this week. He makes some changes to the side.

Which is why I think Tsatsas is being held back.

Gets tough with injuries.

You can’t just manufacture selection pressure when the guys who you would like to be “taking their chance” are injured.

In short I really think the media and others should back off Brad.

■■■■ Little. And Hirdy you’re a club champion - but don’t coach us. The club needs clean air free of coteries.

all stats are potentially pointless to a fair degree.

Tackling stat can mean ■■■■ all if you tackle somoene and they get the ball out everytime.

true pressue from the game was non existent cos our guys can’t tackle for ■■■■, they don’t man up for ■■■■, they just zone grass, both defenders and forwards, and good sides just walk straight through them with ease.

that’s the worst part though, the blueprint to beat us, which has been there for years, is simply don’t tell your defenders to follow our forwards up the ground, and leave spares behind the ball, and that’s pretty much it.

This team simply can’t defend for ■■■■, with extra numbers in the defensive half, they still allow easy goals.

That and put a slight amount of “pressure” on the ball carrier and we wilt and the game plan goes out the window

That doesn’t register as a tackle though, as I understand? A tackle is only recorded on the stat sheet if it results in dispossession or a stoppage?

number of flags is just another stat

Yep, this is the case for public stats. Coaches have stats for both effective and ineffective tackles. Like “tackle efficiency”.

Players need to harden tf up

Serious question. How difficult is it to tackle? Obviously there is some skill involved. But is it mostly intent?

They’re not being coached to be a hard pressure tackling team, so I’m not sure why they would bother? They’re not even being coached a system by what we see week in week out anyway. I’m actually curious whether we actually even have a coach.

Intent is important but so is technique.

You can probably add timing, positioning and anticipation into that mix also.

Then there’s the opponent factor.

Also if you’re inefficient with your movement n general, that’s going to lead to fatigue which makes everything infinitely harder.

A lack of intent is an issue though.

There’s a tackling efficiency number.

Dogs were running at 70% we were running at 40%

So the stats people to capture something there to coach.

Saw at least several tackles in first half that should clearly have been paid HTB or ID. We’re absolute rubbish, but even when we made the effort, no reward.

So…we’re a football club packed to the rafters with pansies. Nothing new there.

This is the part I don’t understand on tv last night or the presser I can’t recall but Brad said the pressure was good, then this article says the worst in two years so which is it?

I think it was 2018.

We got thrashed was one of the worst tacking pressuring games I ever seen. Then a week later we beat Geelong. The pressure for that game was over 200 and we were tackling Geelong like crazy forcing them into turn overs.

Was the best tackling/pressure from us I ever seen would love a repeat of that Friday
