I want a coach who is personally invested. Interesting that Redman was there though. Maybe he wants to get into recruiting?
imagine Redman keen to see all the SA talent.
Still great that he was there. Apparently he sat in on some of the interviews as well. Might be a good mentor
Brad wonât meet them until they are 3 years into their time at the club and eligible for selection in his team.
If the cooper duff Tyler experience was a thing to go by he probably wonât speak to them til year 5.
Truly was our GF. The other side were building to an actual one
Yep do you remember the excitement when Drapes busted open the pack and Kako got the crumb.
I would like a coach!! Someone who can develop young men, as well as a game plan.
Good leadership by the Red Dog.
Maybe Redman told the club, you guys have no FARKING idea what youâre doing, so Iâll do it myself.
I watched the Craig Bellamy Inside the Storm doco last night. If you havenât seen it, itâs well worth a watch. Bellamy is just next level. So many incredible take awaysâŚyou just want your coach to be like him. I love how he builds the culture of the team, how he demands high standards and consistency, how the storm train harder than anyone else, the family aspect of the club that he has built. His quote around â5-year plansâ was spot on. How can I tell my players that we plan to be good in 5 years? Weâre here to be good now. Simple messaging but spot on.
The club says this and are criticised for not being transparent about rebuilding or criticised they arenât rebuilding.
This is what i want for us. We donât need to publicly state that we have a 5 year plan. Just demonstrate that we are training harder and demand high standards. The family aspect is also underrated. Build a high performing culture onfield and a welcoming, inclusive one off field. Over to you Welsh and Scott.
In the ideal scenario, the team is constantly evolving, which requires foresight and ruthlessness. Geelong is an example of that. They are never really tumbling, so they never need a rebuild.
Unfortunately, weâre an example of a club without a plan and lacking the vision to build on the run, which has led us to the current predicament - a rebuild, whether you call it that or not.
Weâre not the only club to have stuffed up this way, but others have been more proactive and willing to make the hard decisions. Signs arenât great so far, but I hope the penny has dropped.
No half measures.
Yes important to note that at many junctures clubs have basically fallen into rebuilds. But (importantly!!) realised where they were and acted accordingly. Ie the last two years of P Schwab @ Hawthorn or the last year or two of Wallet @ Richmond. Even when Dogs had the shemozzle of Griffen leaving, which lead to them sacking McCartney, they were able to turn that into some key pieces that helped them win a flag.
Clubs need to be honest about their position, and be prepared and competent to wheel and deal. Important to strike while the iron is hot, because chances donât always come up twice.
The Welsh rhetoric has not, IMO, been very convincing. Perhaps just rhetoric. I believe thereâs real opportunities for EFC this off season.
Questions: what game style/plan did Brad employ at NMFC? Was it broadly an uncontested approach? Was it sideways/backwards to retain the footy? Does it resemble our approach in 2025?
âWe love you Zach & youâll aways have my full support, thanks for everything youâve doneâ. Sounds like a farewell to me.
Yeah, with you on this. Heâs only merely spoken, rather than spoken words of consequence.
Which, Iâm sure youâll agree, is fine. Yeah, Iâd love to know where the club sees itself but I have no objection to Welsh or anyone else refusing to use the dreaded ârâ word to market the club as best as possible.
Say or not say whatever you like, Welshy. IDGAF. Words means nothing. Itâs deed that matters. And if you donât focus as heavily on youth this draft/trade period as the club did this time last year, weâll know what yours and the boardâs take on our prospects are and also know not to sign up next year.
What so BS hasnât been sacked yet?
Mmmmm, anyone else love the smell of stability in the morning?
