Phil Bombing baby.
Very sad but man would he have had some stories. Lived 1000 lives.
Hugh Mitchell, Essendon’s star ruck-rover of the 1950s and 1960s, died yesterday a month short of his 90th birthday. Check out the commemorative thread started by @51Bewick in the Stargazer History board - The Scarlet Pimpernel Hugh Mitchell
that’s sad … what a great player he was
No not Teri! Very sad news. I know she had MS so I assume that was the cause.
So hot.
Also funny.
Which is hot.
Is she the mum from Close Encounters of The Third Kind?
…I spoze I could google it…
Manuel Mirabal, Cuban trumpeter in the Buena Vista Social Club. I think he’s the last of the Club.
Dingo Dinkelman
If you watch snake related stuff on YouTube or Discovery, then you’ve probably seen him.
Animal conservationist…essentially the South African version of Steve Irwin.
Was entertaining to watch.
He was tagged by a Green Mamba (highly venomous) outside his home, and it appears he had an allergic reaction to the toxin.
Was in an induced Coma for 4 weeks before passing away.
44, same age that Steve Irwin was.
I don’t know much about Janey Godley but turns out she was this lady… so I like her. RIP Janey.
What an enchantress.
I saw one of his programs, and he followed the Steve Irwin model of animal interaction. By that l mean he often confronted wild animals in a sensational manner in order to get them to react to his presence, all for the sake of capturing the interaction on TV.
Yer, it’s not ideal for the animal at that time.Though for educational purposes it is useful for people in the burbs whom do not cross paths with these animals to see how they react to people, and in particular if they feel threatened.
Both guys get a pass from me for their contributions to animal conservation.
Obviously, they play a character in front of the camera.
For all things educational about animals, look no further than David Attenborough.
For all things musical, Eric Burdon is your man.
I agree. He is criminally underrated as a vocalist, especially by Rolling Stone. I did manage to see him live, once around 1990. He was in a pub in a side street in Richmond. His voice is so effortless and smooth and he is so small you wonder where the power comes from. l read a biography of his few years ago, and he is a fascinating character.
That would be the “music” journal that lost all of it’s credibility many, many years ago.
Apparently he is the eggman…
Indeed. The lesson is “stay the fark away from them or you will die”.
It’s not ideal for the animal and sends the WRONG educational message. They do it for dopamine, fame, and money. It’s not far from Joe Exotic and co.
While there is value in mass media reach for animal welfare, the gateway can’t be reckless and irresponsible human interventions and assaults on their wellbeing. Animals feel stress and no conservationist would normalise the behaviour. More damage can be done, than good.
Back to people dying.
