No love for Shatner?
It will be a sad day when he passes. In may ways, he is Star Trek.
I meant it in the way that he will outlive them all.
I would have to agree, without the relentless mock-Shakespearian vibe he conveyed, Star Trek would not have been the same
Shatnerās portrayal of Kirk is to Star Trek what Conneryās 007 is to James Bondāirreplaceable and definitive. While other great actors and actresses have stepped into the roles of memorable characters, Iād argue that only Shatner (Kirk) and Nimoy (Spock) have achieved true cultural icon status.
Itās a toupĆ©e.
Boooooooooooo.
Run it thru the Shatner translator
" Bonesā¦bonesā¦itsā¦a ā¦tooo-paay"
āIām a rocket; manā!
You could definitely make a case for Stewartās Picard (my personal favourite captain) and maybe Spinerās Data, but I think Shatner and Nimoy have them beat.
I love that video.
Ya know that hypothetical question of ones dream dinner party guest list?. Mines always been Jimi Hendrix, Norm Macdonald and Spock. Not Leonard Nimoyā¦Spockā¦heās so fucken cool.
Iām torn between the original and the Stewie Griffin
Looked at this thread and saw this photo and absolutely panicked.
Australian music producer Mark Moffatt.
Produced (among many others) The Saintsā Iām Stranded.
Also one of the men behind 80ās novelty hit Singing In The 80ās by The Monitors.
Also, for fans of sappy Nanna music (more latterly, though to be fair he did have a lengthy jazz and bossanova career before being 80ās-ified) Sergio Mendes.
Did Pete Steedman ( involved in politics and music) get a mention as a past Celebrity when he died in July this year? There is a MSM article on him today.
IDK whether he got a Vale in Fed Parliament as a former MP.
Didnāt know heād died.
We went on a geography/history trip to Canberra at school. Visited the War Memorial, Parliament House, Telecom Tower etc.
At the time the current Parliament House was still being built. It wasnāt far from being finished, and we had a guided tour of it by Peter Steedman. He had been our local MP, and I think was a mate of one of the teachers leading our trip.
He walked around in his leather jacket with his trendy sideys and an omnipresent cigarette.
Jack Hibberd renowned playwright died a few days ago. Wrote lots of plays with his most famous being Dimboola. His best for me was Ten Commandments where those same old commandments were in reverse.
Very talented man.
