Champions League 2023/24

Time for him to go.

Dead last in a truly terrible group aside from Bayern and after the drubbing against Bournemouth. If he’s not gone now, he will be after the Liverpool game

I think Liverpool will be his last game. When we get beaten 5-0 that will be the end.
Doesn’t really matter though because no one is saving this club in its current incarnation.
Until the whole board, coaching staff and playing list is cleaned out nothing will change.
Some of the fans protests before the game today were apparently quite brutal and sickening with police involved and I think the next few days will see an escalation in protests and possibly violence

Such a mess

A manager who doesn’t have a clue what he’s doing

Overpaid bang average Prima Donna players

Awful recruitment

I get more joy watching Sunderland these days than I do manu

I force myself to watch them but like watching Essendon it’s an absolute chore and I find myself switching off now.

I’m just over them- the club and players and staff don’t care, why should I.

I watch the highlights for all their games, but even that is a chore

See you later Newcastle

Milan may not have qualified for the next stage of UCL but Europa League football is better than the lashings the Newcastle players will be copping later on for finishing bottom

A group balanced on a knife’s edge into the last ten minutes, always what you want to see as a neutral.

Yeah, went right down to the wire, couldn’t as for much more although I’m glad Milan and Newcastle didn’t make it out. Not a great week for the UK clubs with United, Newcastle and Celtic all finishing stone motherless last in their groups.
City would be favourites for the final and I’d expect Arsenal to get through the next round of the draw is kind.

I just want to know when Old Trafford will be burnt to the ground.

Was a smallish protest with a “Death to the Glazers” banner and a few scuffles between fans and then with the wallopers yesterday but a few fan groups are trying to organise larger protests and I think it will come to head after Liverpool turn us over

English sides would be over the moon with that draw
Round of 16

  • Porto vs Arsenal
  • Napoli vs Barcelona
  • PSG vs Real Sociedad
  • Inter vs Atletico Madrid
  • PSV vs Borussia Dortmund
  • Lazio vs Bayern Munich
  • Copenhagen vs Manchester City
  • RB Leipzig vs Real Madrid

Hardly surprising the English sides got a great draw considering where the epl is at in terms of their coefficient and getting the 5th ucl spot next year

Bump. 94th minute winner for Porto.

Yuck yuck yuck! Limp performance from the Gunners who looked like they only cared about a draw.

Now with it all to do trailing 0-1.

As the home side Porto offered little and I’d expect Arsenal will win the tie comfortably.

Not quite comfortable but we’ve finally broken the R16 curse.

Not pretty but we’ve now got 2.5 weeks off. Hope like hell some of our internationals are pulled to manage any niggles.

So far it’s:

City
RM
PSG
Barca
Arsenal
Bayern

Tasty looking quarters

City, RM and Bayern should be the only clubs that you’d worry about.

Hoping it isn’t Barca or Bayern. Seem to play and lose to them far too often for it to be mere chance. (Dons conspiracy theory hat - rigged draw to stop Arsenal progressing)

Unfortunately I can’t see us as a serious contender for the Champions League at this stage. We need to win the Premiership first, probably a couple of times. Wenger got us there when he and the team were at their very peak, and we’re nowhere near that yet. Despite our flood of goals since Christmas, we still need a genuine striker.
