Play the vfl team. We have no chance of winning anyhow, so why jeopardise our chances Anzac Day after a ridiculous turnaround?

Mate, it’s a 9 day break after the Crows game.

The short turnaround is AFTER the ANZAC game.

Worsfold mentioned that it was our lack of cohesion that lost it for us against Carlton. Making 5 changes isn’t going to help that cause.

I say field a team to play real dirty. The cows are going to boo anyway, the dirtier the team, the better!
Out: Stanton, Zaharakis, (rest) Parish, (rest) Zerrett.
In: Dea, Mckernan, Bird, Jerrett.

In: Green, Stewart, Bird, Francis, Hartley.
Out: Langford, Zaharakis, Hocking, Brown, Stanton.

Was thinking exaxtly the same but hesitant to make so many changes

Lack of cohesion? No, it was not taking away their spare in the forward line that list it for us

Joe 12 touches 1 goal
Hooker 10 touches 1 goal
Langford 8 touches 1 goal
Fanta 9 touches 0 goals
Tippa 8 touches 1 goal (and he was running around loose for most of the 2nd half)

Dropping 1 forward is stupid, they were all ■■■■■.

Need the three defensive talls down back so Hartley comes back in for Brown or Hooker goes back and Stewart comes in

Kelly, Bags, McGrath to cover their smalls

Would drop Hocking and Langford for Bird and Green

Stanton and Zarahakis lucky to retain their spots

Interesting to see how we approach things this week. Do we make a statement by dropping senior players who failed to perform, or do we put them on notice and say that they have an opportunity this week to make up for it if they want to keep their spot in the side for Anzac Day?

IMO, a message needs to be sent early in the season that sets the tone for what is acceptable moving forward.

Out: Langford, Hocking & Zaharakis
In: Stewart, Bird & Green

B: Baguley Hurley Brown
HB: Kelly Ambrose Gleeson
C: Colyer Watson Goddard
HF: Fantasia Daniher Walla
F: Green Hooker Stewart
R: Leuenberger Heppell Zerrett

I/C: Parish, McGrath, Stanton & Bird

  • Stants would wanna bounce back strongly this week.
  • Colyer really needs to narrow the gap between his best and his worst. We need him firing.
  • If Jenkins plays, I’d lean towards Hartley over Brown (with Hurley taking Tex and Ambrose to shut down Lynch).
  • Wouldn’t be surprised to see Zaka keep his spot in the side (perhaps ahead of Bird, or maybe McGrath gets a rest) just to see how he responds.

He sure as hell should have gone back yesterday to stop the flow of Carlton’s traffic in their forward 50.

I doubt Green will be ready but he goes straight in if so.

Stewart kicks a bag, in for Langford.
Burd gathers 37 on the inside, in for Hocking.
Jerrett kicks 5 on the outside and has a great game, replaces outside running for Zaka.
Hartley strong game and better match up imo for a key forward, in for Brown.
Dea strong down back, in for Gleeson.

I can’t argue with that.

Stewart in for Langford.
Our forward structure falls apart when Joe relieves in the ruck (which he should continue to do), and provided Stewart and Joe can stretch the Crows defence with good running patterns rather than get in each others way.
Langford to play midfield in the two’s - not getting enough time there in the firsts.
The Corgi in for Hocking.
Need more leg speed against them than Hocking can offer. Green in allows Fanta, Walla, and Colyer to rotate more through the middle without compromising our forward line pace and spread. Which in turn allows
Francis in for Kelly / McGrath (rested)
Stanton and Goddard can rotate in the back - Crows don’t use more than 2 or 3 smalls/mids in their forward line, and use Francis in bursts in the middle to relieve Jobe & Hepp as the crash through player.

(By the way Francis it seems can run out a game now, especially if used in bursts - last 10 minutes of Saturday played mid in the twos so time to give all the tired ‘run out of puff’ jokes a breather - pun intended)

Stewart wouldn’t have kicked a goal yesterday and either would’ve Jerrett. If picked they will both get slaughtered on field over in Adelaide and then slaughtered on here by the same people saying they should’ve been picked.

Stewart can’t do much more to get a game. He was unlucky not to get a game round 1 after his Pre season imo, and is dominating the 2s. Get him in, he’s althetic enough to play that third tall role

There’s no way anyone could know that.

They can’t drop Brown… surely.

It doesn’t matter what sort of game he had. It was terrible conditions for him. He was either good enough to bring in and give a decent go at it, or we should never have selected him in the first place.

Stewart struggled to grab a JLT game by the scruff of the neck on perfectly dry tracks against mediocre opposition, yesterday would’ve been even worse.

Jerrett, we’ll we’ve seen everything we need to know there.
