Changes [spec] and anticipation for St Kilda 2023 round 3

In - Hobbs Weid
Out - Dys Mass

Hobbs and Weid in , yes. Dys out, yes but no way Mass goes out. Think Hobbs comes in as the Sub and Guelf stays in the 22.

Langford will settle back into the backline nicely and they will drop Mass for Weid.

Mass was better than Nic Martin and I wouldn’t drop either.

Out - HEp Davey
IN - Weid Hobbs

My only fear with changes this week would be if we bring in Stringer and omit a pressure forward.

I thought Massimo was average at best, Heppell poor and Jones needs time in the reserves to develop
Hind, Stinger and Weideman will likely replace them

Team;-

Ridley Zerk McGrath
Redman Lav Hind
Shiel Setterfield Durham
Langford Weideman Guelfi
Draper Stringer Davey

Phillips Parish Merrett

Bench: Caldwell Perkins Menzie Martin
SUB: Kelly

EDIT: VOSS could and should come in - not sure for who…

Stringer may well get another game in the 2’s.

They managed his time today, they may want a full game of Reserves before he is cleared to come into Seniors.

your taking the pizza here, surely we build him up ready for the tigers match.

Maybe…

But big game. MCG.

It’s the sort of game where he will rock up and have a big impact rather than going through the motions in the VFL.

I think Caldwell makes way for hobbs.

I thought Caldwell was good today. He’d be dead stiff to be dropped.

Yeah I’ve got him as an in, but there is a squeeze and a few players that have earned the right for a crack too.

It will be interesting, just if they don’t name Stringer the reasoning is plausible and fair.

6 day turnaround and sore boys.

In: VOSS, HOBBS, Guelfi, Baldwin
Out: BZT (sore ankle) Setterfield (sore) Heppell (ommitted) Martin (sore)
given 6 day break might see a few changes.

b: Kelly Laverde Ridley
hb: Redman Baldwin McGrath
c: Durham HOBBS Langford
hf: Perkins Jones Guelfi
f: Davey VOSS Menzie
r: Draper Parish Merrett
int: Caldwell, Shiel, Phillips, D’Ambrosio
Sub: Stringer

Langers and Perkins to rotate HFF and Wing

will be tough decisions if Setterfield, Martin and BZT plus Weideman are cleared to play.

I don’t understand the thinking behind: Gosh, our backline is really playing well together as a unit…let’s bring in Hind…

Phillips will not, and should not, be dropped.
Balance people!

Got nothing against Hind but Hobbs has to come in.

I’m rarely absolutely categorical about selection.
But 2nd year has 34, 6 tackles and kicks 2 in the reserves? Of course he’s coming in.

Still short a tall from our best structure. Weid first in line if fit, Voss if not.

Stringer probably comes in too.

So Stringer, Weid, Hobbs in for Hepp, Mass, Phillips? Guelfi?

To be fair, it’s been about 6 hours since we brought Mass in, in exactly those circumstances…

I can’t see them making 4 unforced changes to a side that won by 5 goals in their previous game.

I also can’t see us resting players in Round 3. Heppell? Maybe… they’ll announce it like he is being “managed” for pride purposes but we know the real reason why.

Anyone else though? Nah.
