Changes vs Eagles (Marvel)

He did but he also played Redman’s spot. So i think we need to get core players back in the roles they are specialist at

Dropping based on form should be a run of bad form, not one game. Hind had been excellent last few weeks and Hepp very good. It’s only one bad game.

Perkins not on your list but I don’t think he’s played a good game since returning from injury and he was invisible last night.

menzie picked off some nice intercepts when he was part of a defensive wall and when defending space in the backline. not sure his 1-on-1 defending is good enough to carve a career out down back.
is a good idea though to give him a chance in defence as he doesn’t appear to have the speed needed to be a quality small forward.

Good changes. However I don’t think Durs and Drapes will come straight in. Both to play VFL and be ready for the Cats. Also Saad may have an ankle problem.

I’d say three changes

Out - Setters (in.), Jones and Tstas

In - Caddy, Redman and Saad (Menzie sub)

If Saad isn’t fit they might bring in Shiel and make him sub and leave Menzie in the 22

Hepp has had a fantastic season and a half and warrants an extension. I’d been critical of him up until mid season last year and he well and truly deserves his spot.

Was legit looking at it from the perspective of trying some others in the half back line, similarly to what BDB did with Menzie, which was left of centre, but seemingly worked.

You’d expect with our consistent appetite for the contest this year that we’d beat the Eagles quite easily under Marvels roof and thought it would be interesting to try some inexperienced players.

Menzie has shown more in defence than Ned Cahill did.

This belief by some that coaches know best is wrong. Bulldogs NRL Cameron Ciraldo persisted with Drew Hutchison (our Menzie) for weeks - Hutchison was even booed by our fans. Toby Sexton finally comes in and has been fantastic. Some of Brad’s favourites are not AFL standard. Just because they train hard and do the right things shouldn’t mean getting a game. Let’s give some other players a go instead of recycling the same mediocre players. Use the Eagles game to make a selection statement about performance.

As much as I remain a supporter of Hepp, he being sub (e.g. when Redman returns) for a while now, particularly as we try beat these teams around us in the latter half of this season makes a bit of sense.

Many on here want Hind as perennial sub but he’s been good recently and deserves his spot atm. Hepp coming on at 3QT or thereabouts doesn’t give us a sugar rush. But it does give us a steady experienced backman or wing to hold onto a lead or help stop a run on. And he’d release someone e.g. Martin, Cox or a resting mid to go forward and help win the 4 points if that’s the scenario.

He probably wouldn’t like it but reckon he’d do it for the team if asked. Would Brad ask him … probably not. Would Kelly be a similar handy backfill of a sub and Scott maybe ask him to don the hi-viz? Probably not either.

But its better than asking new recruits to be a sub week on week until they likely drop in belief and start regressing.

That is a reason to delist him, if that was his best

I think it will be 3 changes max and Scott will integrate the others back via the VFL first. Something like-

Out: Setterfield (inj), Tsatas
In: Duursma, Redman

Who is Menzies…??

As much as I’d like to see SEH come in I think with Setterfield injured we are light on for experienced mids so Shiel will get his chance. I’d like to see;-

OUT: Setterfeld, Tsatas, Kelly, Jones
IN: Shiel, Duursma, Redman, Caddy

Lineup;-

Ridley McKay McGrath
Redman Lav Heppell
Duursma Shiel Hind
Martin Langford Gresham
Stringer Caddy Guelfi

2MP Durham Caldwell

Bench: Perkins Merrett Menzie Goldy
SUB: Cox

Emergency:
SEH Hobbs Jones Draper

Cheap touches because no one plays on him.

Ya think? All alone, pretty much open goal, all the time in the world yet, he kicks it to a 2 on 2?
Is he ■■■■■■■ for real?

Therein lies the issue…

If he comes back, plays like hes interested, has a crack and creates a bit of havoc then something might happen. I just reckon if were relying on him to move the needle were in a fair bit of strife.

The Cahill backline preseason hype lasted about 10 minutes into the season opener against the Hawks. Diabolical turn over kick early on and it didn’t get much better from there.

I can’t believe I’m going to say this words but…Hep is the least of our problems right now, he stays in the team

And he’s now totally crossed the line by joining Carlton VFL…will remain ■■■■ forever!!
