Nope, just no. Very different set of circumstances. While this game is important to solidify our progress, the game against GWS was a giant step forward, pun intended in team development, it showed we could play with and beat the big boys. A win against Norf will be no less welcome but will be a win against a minnow in every sense of the word.
Its how we win for me CJ, No more falling over the line by a goal or 2 against the worst sides in the comp. We need to start putting sides like this to the sword.
Was happy with getting the win against the Eagles. It didn’t matter by how much, it was about getting the four points.
This week is different. We need to show that our game style can be consistent no matter what. The aim should be to win the next two games by 10 goals each.
If Ridley plays I’m expecting they either rest Hep or have him be sub
Unless they want to move Kelly back to wing role again and Hind to sub, but Kelly is playing excellent footy right now in his preferred role so wouldn’t think they’d do that
Might be ideal time for Hep to have a rest
Goldy I think too important to us to do so at moment, and let him be involved in yet another win this time against his old mob
Too much “ease Ridley in against ■■■■ oppo” talk for mine. It’s not the quality of the opposition, it’s the intensity of the match and the inability to manage his minutes accordingly that presents as an issue.
As a key back, he’s gonna be required to play a very high % game time and having not played for 3mths he’ll lack the match conditioning to do so and is at risk of re-injury.
If they chose to manage his minutes in the seniors then it compromises match ups and rotations in other parts of the ground. Thus exposing other players to potential injury.
Give him a game in the magoos, find some touch in game and manage his minutes if it’s necessary to do so.
If we’re desperate for another key back to come in this week then Reid is fit and available and coming off a full game in the VFL.
Ridley back in next week with some match fitness is much better option.
We’ve got a really tough run coming up either side of the bye, now’s not the time to be rolling the dice on the few key blokes we’ve got returning from injury.
Execution plays a role as well though. I doubt they’ll do the “turn up expecting to win” thing, but the execution has been shown to be patchy at times and that could make this game closer than many of us might like.
If they come with the same mindset AND polish in execution, then we absolutely should wipe the floor with this welfare peasant club.
