They are the best games…I have to say this year the Bulldogs game came close where I could just watch our side play without too much anxiety. I remember going to Marvel a few years ago to watch us play St Kilda (Friday night game I think) where we smoked them from start to finish…I was with a mate and we just drank beer all game watching us put on a show! Those games are the best!!!
IMO
Reid played in place of Ridley in round 1. So I think Ridley in for Laverde first. Whether it is this week or next week is up to the coaches.
Reid will probably stay in VFL a little while longer as Laverde is a tad more trustworthy to at least finish the game without having to reshuffle the team to get preferred matchups.
No. Play Goldy until he thinks he needs a break. He’s old enough to know when he needs a break.
No. Not unless there is a need for midfielder to be replaced.
He may be able to play off a wing a bit more, but unlikely he can do that for a full game.
Not sure where he sits. I’ll wait and see if he gets into emergencies ahead of other VFL players to work out where he sits in the pecking order.
I don’t think so. Gresham and Guelfi are the first two small forwards selected. I think Menzie or Alwyn for the third spot. Jayden and Wanganeen are a bit further behind. Jayden is closing the gap, but given the way selection has gone in the last year and a half, I wouldn’t expect the call up.
I agree we should. But it doesn’t always happen that way.
Certainly didn’t for Collingwood as they were rising.
There are times when the opposition steps up and other times when you’re a bit flat. Then both could happen.
I’d say Hawthorn round 1 last year was the last time we put a team away relatively early. Carlton is probably another. They were more outliers though. I don’t think we’re at a point where we can confidently expect that kind of result. You can feel that sentiment amongst the posts here. We’re not there yet.
I can’t see any info on free ticketing for kids for round 10 on Sunday. And I can’t see any GA tickets for sale on TicketMaster. My brother had to pay for a GA seat for his son to come with us last week.
This week is a ‘replacement game’ for North fans (because they want Melbourne based fans to have access to local games in place of the 4 rounds they play in Tassie), which means they can get GA entry with their membership on the day, so they’re probably keeping an allocation of GA entry tickets for game day access.
Now here’s the more interesting part for you. All 3 YO and under are always free entry, but they technically need to not occupy a seat. So they’re free because they can sit on Mum or Dad’s lap. If you tell them that you have another person meeting you there, so both kids have a lap to sit on, you should be able to get both in for free on the day, at the gates, with no ticket.
In reality, it’s highly unlikely the game will actually be sold out, so you should be able to occupy an extra seat or two without an issue, and it’s unlikely anyone asks for you to prove you have tickets for kids occupying seats in GA areas. However, if you want to be 100% sure, invite someone else along, or meet someone you know is going, so both kids have a lap if needed.
Also, if you get in early enough to get good seats in GA areas, it might be useful to have someone else with you, so you can keep your seats reserved when you inevitably need to run kids to the toilets or get food.
Jordan Ridley did everything today

What about a school of thought that Bryan would benefit of playing in a dual ruck setup at afl level before managing Todd?
Yep got some support workers coming to help with the ferals
Depends on who else is dropped, where we’re playing and who we’re playing.
I think we can go an extra tall at the MCG like we did on Anzac Day.
I’m not sure we can do the same at Marvel.
So if we are to do that at Marvel, we’d have to give something up to provide Bryan that benefit. Need to remember that Bryan is more of a first ruck and so is Goldy. Goldy is probably the better forward target.
We’re not at a point in our development (and performance) to try and force something to occur for a future benefit and accept the drop in performance from it.
I think we select our best team to win the upcoming week and let the other opportunities fall when injuries are there or resting of players is required.
Simpkin has only been doing light training this week apparently.
RIDS IN
LIDS OFF
Ridley to senior side please
Worst poker face in town…Ridley will be in if he gets through training.
So…who’s out?
Like for like change, Ridley for Davey Jnr.
We don’t need Rids this week - let him play a half or 3/4 in VFL and see what happens this week injury/suspension wise
Laverde. Straight swap.
Lav has great endeavour, but it’s hard to beat Ridley’s game.
When we play teams with three genuine talls like Carlton (Curnow, McKay, DeKoning) or peak Geelong (Hawkins, Cameron, Henry and also Rohan), Laverde would still prove useful (unless Reid is fit).
I’d play him ASAP to help build chemistry with McKay and the rest of the backline before tougher games start. If Reid is part of our best side, I’d play him also. Lav will be unfairly sacrificed.
