More than that, he’s our best 2-way runner and a key part of our defensive structure. Whoever we bring in needs to put a lot of miles in on Sat.
Depends how you look at it.
would be great for Bryans development to be playing as number 1 ruck. plus also opportunity for Wright/Cox /Jones to help out for brief stints. Bryan plays similar to Goldy, and is great by foot. a real workhorse. Remember English early days would be getting smashed, now he is one of the best rucks in the league.
There is one thing that I’ve often thought of when it comes to player availability.
Of course, you’d love for nobody to get injured and to have everyone available but there is a ‘but’ to that or at least an unintended consequence.
When you do have a extremely healthy list over the course of a season, what it can do is increase the likelihood of losing guys who are AFL capable, because the usual ebb and flow of forced changes throughout the year isn’t happening or is rarely happening so they don’t get their chances and become frustrated.
i.e. perhaps if Duursma and/or a Caldwell are sidelined for varying periods, it means that Tsatas and Hobbs get a decent run of games and it satiates them and their player managers.
There’s also I guess a different category, where you pick a guy who you mightn’t have rated all that highly or didn’t think was ready but you’re forced to pick them and find out they actually show quite a lot more than you expected at AFL level. Hayes or Bryan could in some ways fit this sort of bill. Maybe Wanganeen later in the year.
Obviously there’s a point at which your injury list becomes super detrimental to team performance though, that’s a given.
But in some strange way, a certain level of injuries, can actually play a part in keeping everyone just happy enough and for them to not feel as though they’re stagnating in their career to the point where they’d explore opportunities elsewhere.
this might be the game to give Hayes a run
move heppell to the wing and let Hayes play on a Riccardi or Cadman type
Heppell, Redman or even Martin up on a wing would work.
Given Hayes wasnt even an emergency last week. He won’'t get a chance. Brad’s more likely to bring in Weideman.
Has Hayes been an emergency yet all year?
I would be happy to see any of
Hayes in and shuffle a defender to the wing, (not kelly)
Tsatas in on wing or move someone wing and tsatas onball
Roberts in at HBF or Wing
Bryan in and move Davey to the Wing.

How about we play Davey on the wing if he blows up sub him out or split time on the wing with other players.
He isn’t ready for that role yet, would rather play Roberts there as that’s the role he has excelled in at VFL level.
Wing is far too demanding for constant running which doesn’t suit Alwyn, he either stays forward or goes down to VFL to play forward/midfield or half back
He’s not really ready for any role from what I can see.
Damn.
Oh well he won’t be 100%.
They are only Callum Brown away from being at full strength.
Strooth.
We’ll be missing Ridley, Draper and duursma from best 22.
So not diabolical but yeah would be nice.
Seems a bit risky from the giants end, just yesterday noted he still had swelling and sore.
Especially under the roof at Marvel, will be quick and that ankle will be put to the test real quick.
Yeah still a watch this space for mine.
Could be mind games so Durham spends all week watching tape of green as that’s who he will go to around stoppages if he plays
And we cop a torn quad at training
Can never have nice things
Attack the ankle
Changes will be Bryan and tsatas for goldy and duursma, I reckon.
Yesterday I was thinking that we were going into this game with the news that Caldwell was ok and Green was out. Since then, we lose Duursma and Green miraculously recovers. Oh and Coniglio who looked to have done a season ending knee injury also miraculously recovers in time for our game. Yet, Ridley, Reid and Setterfield were all supposed to be back weeks ago, are still unavailable. Oh, I forgot Draper too.
Hopefully they’re making a Rozee type decision with Green.
