Climate Change in Australia (Part 1)

Is he sulking and disappointed that the outages had nothing to do with renewables?

Solar Powered air conditioned bunkers for the sub stations??

Run 100% on coal that also fails in high temperatures.

Heā€™s posting about it because he thinks renewables are responsible for it.

So, ā€¦ heā€™s an idiot then??

Turns out it wasnā€™t about supply at all ā€¦ the distribution network was unable to cope with demand.

If only there was a simple way to reduce demand on the network during bright hot Summer days, ā€¦ like, I donā€™t know, ā€¦ solar panels on the roof charging batteries or something ā€¦

Looking at it fom here, ā€¦ it seems that despite the fact that the demand would have been high all day long, ā€¦ the system only failed under load almost as soon as the sun went down, ā€¦ so itā€™s highly likely that solar was doing itā€™s part to help it cope by powering many home air cons and or supplying power into the grid at a localised level, ā€¦ so it would seem that just the batteries are the missing link.

Either that, ā€¦ or a massive upgrade and renewal of the entire distribution network so it can cope with these situations for just 4 or 5 days a year and continuing massive increases in power costs to pay for it.

Not sulking, laid up.

Too hard working from an iPad.

Interesting post by Soulnet regarding input tariffs but I am sure that you as a rational and observant genius would have picked up on the small discrepancy regarding solar feedin times.

Did anyone else read that the electricity suppliers are whinging that people installed lots of air conditioners without telling them ?

Lol

Finally an admission by a warmist group that renewables are more expensive even if the admission was by accident.
However they have a ā€œhopeā€ that itā€™ll be cheaper eventually.

And they will be, and they are, and itā€™s happening faster than most expected. Because of investment, forward looking policy in mostly European government and industry, and people who wish to preserve at least a fraction of the lifestyle we have taken for granted for too long. Itā€™s happening too fast for the likes of you, and you donā€™t like change, you donā€™t trust vision or imagination. Youā€™re a conservative and you are right about it all because thatā€™s what youā€™ve been told you are. Warmist? You donā€™t know how infantile and geriatric you sound at the same time. Shouting from the dustbin of history.

Wow you are someone who is seriously threatened by people whoā€™s views differ from your own.

No, I feel threatened by people who want to keep their ā€˜thingsā€™ at the expense of everyone else in the playground. Like a hell of a lot of people Iā€™m sick to anger of ā€˜denialistsā€™ nay saying in the face of incontestable scientific and physical evidence because of some archaic ideological position or utter, wilful ignorance. Whereā€™s your ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā–  alternatives to our use of finite and destructive resources mate, or are you here just to drop troll bombs and giggle to yourself?

Iā€™m not going to continue this discussion past this post. Your response proves exactly my point. Your incessant use of the word ā€œtrollā€ in multiple threads also proves the point.

Troll = Iā€™m threatened and I dont like what you are saying.

Michelle Bachelet, multilingual physicist, military strategist, socialist, president of Chile on the opening of 5 national conservation parks over 10 million acres.

ā€œThis is not just an unprecedented act of preservationā€¦it is an invitation to imagine other forms to use our land. To use natural resources in a way that does not destroy them. To have sustainable development ā€“ the only profitable economic development in the long term.ā€

The creation of the parks marks the latest in a flurry of environmental protection laws which have brought Chile to the forefront of worldwide conservation efforts.

Fine. I regard people who snark at others for providing unblemished information in a thread, and ridicule science, as trolls. Thatā€™s what you and a few others are prone to doing. I wonā€™t lose sleep over the cessation of our dialogue.

You call people ā€˜warmistsā€™. Thatā€™s trolling

Triggered. lol. bai.

No-one is threatened by your empty thought bubbles. You are just ignorant.

Itā€™s clear that many are. Btw. What is the deal with your bubble fixation?

This was an interesting thread, once.

So long as fossil fuels are allowed to socialise their costs by blithely and without penalty dumping their destructive waste products into the atmosphere regardless of the impact on others, they are going to have a head start in cost competition with renewables.

This implicit subsidy (and the advantage of incumbency, and the mechanics of a power grid designed for their needs rather than the requirements of renewable generators) has kept their noses ahead on price so far. In Australia at least however, so much of the fossil fuel generation capacity is in need of replacement at a massive capital cost, so this has been changing.
