I found a graph that I don’t know how to read on the wiki for Little Ice Age!

One of the things I don’t understand about these graphs is that they never seem to start at zero.

My poor feeble uneducated brain looks at a graph generated by satelitte data using the most accurate instrumentation ever built and I see the current monthly temperature anomaly of 0.14C is the same as 1987 and the 13 month average the same as 1998 and falling fast.

What is that natural cause? It isn’t increased solar activity or intensity, interminable and scrupulous measurements have proven thoroughly that the sun is in a relatively uneventful state right now. Heat doesn’t just appear magically, that’s counter to basic thermodynamics. So what is the natural cause of the current extreme level of warming?

What caused that to melt? Certainly wasn’t CO2. It wasn’t CO2 caused by coal power stations, that’s for sure, but CO2 emissions from other causes may have impacted. Regardless, thank you for finally accepting that climate change can have drastic impacts on human life and sea levels, don’t you think we’d better try to avoid causing unnatural climate change on top of the natural climate change that will occur regardless?.

firstly, how long did it take to come out of the younger Dryas? What was the average warming per century? What has been the warming in the last century? If we warm a few degrees gradually over a period of millennia than then human society can adapt and ecosystems can evolve. It’s warming a few degrees in less than a century that makes it catastrophic. As has been explained to you many times before

Secondly, so what? Some fairly basic and completely uncontroversial physics and chemistry still make it very clear that the greenhouse gas emissions human activity is pumping into the atmosphere will warm the atmosphere further.

thirdly, I’d LOVE to see a reference to back up your claim of the Younger Dryas being 18C colder than it is now. I believe the accepted value is less than half that

Yeah, you’d think we’d maybe be starting to see some increased glaciation as the intra-glacial comes to an end, wouldn’t you? But instead, it seems to be getting warmer and glaciers are retreating. I WONDER WHY THAT COULD BE???
