The truth about Australia’s emissions…
Our only achievement, over the past 20 years, has been to convince an accountant that our tree clearing has flipped over to a become a flourishing carbon sink (bottom blue chart).
All the other emission sources (colourful stack) have added up to a consistent slab of emissions over the same timeframe.
And all the politicians are in agreement that we need another 50% population increase. Gotta pump up those investment property returns!
here’s just the start
“There was not a single insurer in Australia that would offer even a conversation to provide a quote,” Mr Manikas said.
“They simply came back with ‘declined to quote’ across the board.”
Absolutely feral weather in Sydney the last 36 hours. Massive storm on Thursday night followed by the windiest day I have ever experienced. Lots of damage around Sydney with the SES very busy. There is so much energy in the system now.
Anyway:
Toyota have been running an anti EV agenda for years. Very dishonest company. They are starting to get some karma as they reputation for quality is now starting to fade with a number of issues appearing in their cars. The Bz4x aint gonna save them. It is overpriced rubbish.
The Age “ The Australian renewables sector is hoping to grab a bigger share of global investment if US President Donald Trump makes good on his promise to ban offshore wind turbines in the United States.
At a press conference this month, Trump repeated the false claim that wind turbines “obviously” kill whales and said: “We are going to have a policy where no windmills are being built.”
He has asked congressman Jeff Van Drew, a vocal critic of offshore wind farms, to write an executive order he could issue to halt wind energy projects without the vote going through Congress.
We are a very good chance of breaking the all-time January record in a La Nina year! It’s a mild La Nina, but still, this is ■■■■■■■ incredible. And frightening. Yes, it is ■■■■■■■ frightening. If this keeps going, and the next El Nino is a strong one, then we are all going to witness things we’d never thought we’d witness in our lifetimes. Buckle up everyone, and plan accordingly.
previous owners were in the same boat
According to UNICEF, at least 242 million children had their schooling interrupted by extreme weather in 2024.
( corrected number, original left out million)
I just discovered the Weather Thread. Not to be presumptuous but is that the thread where extreme temps like 6 day streaks of 37-40 in Melbourne are talked about positively like “proper summer heatwaves”? Maybe it’s just the recent posts by certain folks giving it that vibe.
Hence the idea of climate change from human activity induced global warming.
Welcome to 30 years ago.
Or alternately welcome to 2055 when we thought all this ■■■■ might start happening
