All the bad people are in hell.
Meh, it was only a decade ago we had one of them (heavy hail).
You absolute piece of ■■■■ human. “It’s opening up the conversation to one that’s not just ‘these are the facts’, to one that says : actually, I can say and do any old bullshit and not only will nobody stop me, I’ll be rewarded beyond your pathetic little dreams”
The only “perfect” solution they are interested in is making a ■■■■-tonne of money at the expense of the future.
The climate has very rarely had such a rate of change .
However there have been volcanic eruptions and meteor hits that made rapid changes, caused crop failures, cold winters etc from which the planet recovered relatively quickly. Like in a scale of years, not centuries like this one promises to be.
O’Neill is perfectly happy to accept “compromises” that mean things like the following will happen more often and on a more devastating scale. But she’ll make money.
Indeed. You only have to go back to the early 90s when Pinatubo cooled the earth by about .4⁰c over 6 months or so. That one was a monster blast that was able to get around 10 million tonnes of sulphur into the stratosphere. That was the key, injecting so much into the stratosphere, thus spreading around the globe, when most volcanoes only get it into our atmosphere.
I know that scientists are looking at this as a way to geoengineer if it ever gets to that stage.
We will geoengineer the ■■■■■■■ atmosphere before we consider making a handful of rich people less rich
Challenge is that this argument resonates with many people who primarily do not look much past their nose.
Even with climatic catastrophes most do not change habits, especially since they cannot do much except try to survive.
A massive failure of democracy when it needs legendary courage from Government to force action. Labor does have policy to get the job done, but lacks the courage or conviction to do it now.
All energy sources should be nationalised including mining and renewables. Woodside should be the first acquired forcibly if necessary.
Can we have some public executions of fossil-fuel bosses too?
And the politicians that allow them to continue the pillaging of the earth whilst making bank for ■■■■ all returns to us.
Boil them in vegetable oil
^So even vegans would approve.
The returns to us will be plentiful. Unfortunately, those returns will be horrifying.
It’s the first taste of what’s likely to be a hot summer for most of the country, according to the Bureau of Meteorology’s long-range outlook.
Bureau of Meteorology senior forecaster Jonathan How said parts of the NSW coast could see temperatures up to 15C above average.
“Saturday will be the peak across Sydney and eastern New South Wales,” he said.
"Sydney is getting to 37C in the city, the low 40s in the west.
“So it’s a very hot day and there are very hot conditions all the way up the coast.”
Meanwhile, the highest temperatures are expected in WA’s Kimberley region, where extreme heatwave conditions are set to linger into next week.
Fitzroy Crossing is forecast to reach 46C on Sunday and Monday, according to the BOM.
Cool dull morning in Melbourne… but the flies have arrived.
