I have no idea if the figures in the article are correct, but -
2% of earth’s surface works out to 736,077,509 acres.
10 months destruction is 28,000,000 acres.

Technically an ice age is a period with substantial land ice. We’ve been in one for a few million years. Ice ages have glacial periods where that ice expands. What gets commonly called the ice age is strictly speaking the last glacial period. We’re currently in an interglacial period.
