COACHING: TOO THEORETICAL AND INFLEXIBLE?

Sheeds was interviwed just befor Saturdays game. He said we were 2 years off it. It sure looks like it, and with Zach Merret out it looks like we are mid table. Is like taking Danger out of Geelong, Petracca out of Melbourne or Cripps out of Carlton they just are not as good.

Tagging the best player in the opposition is not a sign of weakness. It is a statement of respect for that player and his team.

We simply need to stop the effectiveness of the best players in the competition but we refuse to. It is sheer arrogance and incredibly frustrating for supporters. The EFC just hands out Brownlow votes to the opposition week after week after week. Just watch Oliver and Petracca destroy us on the week-end.

We need to man up on the spare man in our forward line and then run the absolute life out of them.

We hear that a lot. Every year. But never from the club to the fans.

I get why but it’s reprehensible. The very first thing the club should do for their fans is to be honest. If they trust the trajectory they’re on, then sell it to the fans, trust them to buy in.

Clarke was riding on the memory of that one Cripps game, but TNC’s point still stands. He was our best tagger.

It’s the sign of a successful team.

The whole point of a tagger is to stop the oppositions most damaging player getting the ball. The argument is that if you tag then you are a man down yourself, but I’d take that if it meant that a less skillful player got more of the ball.

Definition of irony Rutten said our players need to pay more attention to the little things but he forgot attention to Neale

It’s called being arrogant. I still remember Dimma saying that he simplified the game plan in 2017 which meant the players were thinking less and footballed better. It may take Rutten 5 years to have this same epiphany!

doesn’t this mean our offence is inherently flawed if we require all 6 in the middle to get the ball forward?

Sadly that call would have been made before and during round 1 with Dangerfield aswell, they are backing in their process.

Caldwell looks like a bull and might go ok, but we won’t know until tried

To be honest, id have zerrett do some negating roles (not outright tags, but instruction is to prevent the other gun from nuking us), hes the only mid we have that can tackle with intent, has speed and a quick step to match your neale and other types that aren’t petracca, but is ■■■■■■■ damaging if he gets the ball.

if GWS did it with cogs when they were legit contenders we can do it with zerrett.

We’re Essendon, we don’t tag. Thats for horrible people who want to stop the best players performing. We’re are much too nice for that. Besides, it takes away one of our players and that would be detrimental to our attacking ability and we wouldn’t be 2 games up and top of the ladder.
Well thats what truck meant to say.

Have you see our current forward line. Only way we could beat teams atm, is via our midfield.
