Anyone tried the infamous cat poo coffee? Supposedly the world’s best and most expensive?

We have it all the time in Bali and it’s not that expensive. We nearly always bring back a packet or two each

I’ve been served weak coffee that tastes like cat pee.

I had the mini Lavazza pod machine Modo Mio and I used the Lavazza intenso pods to make my mugs of Soy latte.
Trouble was it was getting hard to find the pods at a reasonable price or at all.

So I got the Delonghi equivalent machine, which does expresso or has a button to do mugs of latte.

Trouble is the Nespresso pods are smaller, so the coffee is insipid by comparison
Any suggestions?

I really miss the coffee that the Melbourne Uni Student Union served in the 1980s.

It was really really strong and stewed in a big urn with the milk already added.

You served yourself and by the time you went to the cashier, a thick skin had formed on the top of the coffee. Remove that and you would only get a second skin forming.

We’ve come a long way.

Ahha. I found Nespresso pods are 5g, 1 shot, Lavazza are 7.5 1.5 shot, and the Nescafe Virtuo are 2 shots, like at a Melbourne coffee shop. It turns out, the extra 0.5 shot made the difference for my taste and the size of my cup.

I admit, I have loved our Vertuo pods. I normally love going out to get a coffee.. but lately, the pods we have gotten have ■■■■ all over the local coffee joints.

If you peeled the third skin off, was the next skin all soft and wrinkly?

That was the same pot from when I was there in the 1970s. It was never cleaned.

I drink a dark roast Italian blend from my local Italian Delicatessen. They charge. 25 a kilo and I reckon it’s great.

freshly roasted.

I mean it’s not some fancy light roasted gourmet beans from a boutique roaster. But I like it

After drinking 8 cups of instant coffee a day in the office, for years, about 10 years ago I was inspired to actually buy coffee from local coffee shops, I shopped around and found one that did coffee exactly the same every day. He used Lavazza Gold, used light brown sugar that gave me the taste I really liked.
I changed from 8 instants to one really nice coffee a day. I have never had Blend 43 or International Roast since.

About 2 years ago I lashed out and bought a machine, coffee shops serve better, but the machine at home is still far superior to farking International Roast as I remember it.

The Aldi coffee is Lavazza and at $28 a kilo it is good quality and good value

Yeah I take a bit of pride in being able to pull a good coffee at home.

my milk isn’t always as smooth as a store bought flat white.(sometimes my bubbles are a little bit more like a cappuccino). But it tastes really good.

And because I’ve also adjusted my tastes buds to an Italian dark roast coffee beans. The cafes just don’t do that and you do notice the change in flavour.

I’ve never had a cup of coffee

Yeah nah. It’s a name similar to lavazza but it’s not.

I am a big advocate of lots of Aldi stuff: their ocean rise brisling sardines are high quality and cheap, their deli originals hummus is for mine better than Yumi’s and absurdly cheap in the 1 kg tub. And so on.

And I’m not particularly a coffee snob, but the Aldi brand coffee is imo a step down from Lavazza or Vittoria.

True that - but I did see a cleaner once wipe the spigot with the cleaning rag that she had been using to wipe the aluminium tray race/tracks that people pushed their tray around the serving areas in the Caf.

OH&S and hygene were a different country back then.

At $17 a Kg for the Aldi dark roast, you can’t really complain.

Whilst I have a decent Breville espresso machine, I find myself using the Aeropress more often.

Something simplistic and therapeutic about the experience.

It makes a good cuppa, of course.

The above is just a cheapie Organic Arabica from Coles.

Still tastes good !

Someone here will know, but aren’t flat whites by default a double shot of coffee?
