Coll v Ess R17 2024 - less drawing and less squiggle

What I would give for an elite small forward to be added to our mix.

I still think we are a bit too tall, and lack agility and burst pace.

It does look much better than last week however.

That’s a little too close.
Can you swap the digits ?

Nah, I picked 13 ‘cause it’ll give us a percentage of 100

What could go wrong.

You know how this will play out

We jump them early and extend the lead to 28 points halfway through the 2nd Quarter. A bit of an arm wrestle ensues then with minutes remaining a bad Nic Martin turnover sees the ball go back to the Collingwood F50 where Bobby Hill gets in behind Andy McGrath and runs the ball to the goal line kicking it hard into the 2nd Tier of the Punt Road end!

Back to the centre, umpire bounces the ball and it clearly favours Draper who takes it out of the air uncontested and while it didn’t leave the centre circle the ump blows the whistle to rebounce. Sammy, unhappy with the call remonstrates just enough for the ump to penalise him for dissent. Collingwood quickly move the ball forward where Maynard, restricted by his corkie, clatters front first into Jordan Ridley who’s attempting to take a simple chest mark. The Essendon faithful roar for the obvious free kick but the umpire waves play on. Hill again grabs the ball and snaps it over his shoulder under pressure and kicks a miracle goal. Meanwhile Ridley, dazed and in the hands of the trainers is being helped from the ground and will play no further part.

The 28 point lead is now just 16 and the Pies have a Spring in their Step. Their gnarley fans start up the “ Coooooolllliiiinnngwooooood” chant. Bomber players have hands on hips and are now praying for the half time siren.

At last the half is over and the respective teams leave the field of play. Essendon players looking dejected whereas only moments earlier were floating across the grass. The Collingwood boys are high fiving and hugging MacRae as they leave the playing arena to waves of applause and chanting.

Do you wanna know what happens next?

Come back at 10.30 tonight!!!

Then I woke up an it was just a bad dream…everything will be just fine

lol yes I tend to agree unfortunately . We really really really need to make a statement tonight. Unfortunately statements have been few and far between .

Only ones who will make a statement is Merret,Caldwell,Durham

The rest have packed it in for the year

it depends how we win.

If we wipe the floor with them…say 8 goal plus win, then I can imagine plenty in the media jumping on saying Essendon are the real deal, such is footy media week to week.

Collingwood by 37.

My positivity bucket has run out for the season.

I’m likely to get banned from blitz after Bobby Hill slots his 10th by quarter time.

Thanks for all your support over the years.

Banned from the MCG?

On blitz

can you imagine

I thought you meant the loungeroom. It must be tough for ya

there are so many question marks hanging over our team that warrants doubts about where we are at

need for the season to finish to make a clearer judgment

Yep, history says Essendon are farked. Miserable MCG record of something like 9 wins from 28 games since 2020.

Despite Caldwell’s declaration that the team will not fall in a heap like last year, there are no signs that Essendon have recaptured their early season form, or the defence have addressed their inability to intercept (what’s happened to McKay!? Since round 10 averaging 8 possessions, 2 marks).

The competition are just waiting for Essendon to fall of the perch, which the majority of supporters expect to happen.

A win would go a long way to help reestablish belief and reinforce the gains made this year.

A loss? Well… with all the commentary about not beating a top 8 side, there’s no coming back from that this year.

This game is like a final and we know what that looks like for the EFC.

If that happens I reckon it’ll be “anything goes” on here.
